Tiago Neto - Violin
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Tiago Neto is first-prize winner of several national and international competitions, including the ‘Jeunesses Musicales’ Portuguese Competition, the Portuguese radio Young Musician of the Year Prize, Young Musicians Chamber Music Competition, in Portugal, and the Chamber Music Competition in the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, in Scotland.
As a soloist, Tiago has had performing engagements all over the world, having appeared with such prominent orchestras as the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Macau and Zoltán Kodály Orchestra (Hungary). Some of his recent solo recitals include: Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisbon); Royal College of Music (London); Centre Culturel Calouste Gulbenkian (Paris); the Hoger Instituut voor Vertalers en Tolken (Antwerp); Gamle Logen (Oslo); among many others.
Considered one of the most distinguished Portuguese violinists of his generation, Tiago Neto is regularly invited to give Masterclasses and to serve as jury member in the most prestigious national universities and music conservatories, as well as in national and international violin competitions.
Tiago Neto began his violin studies with the distinguished Professor Leonor Prado and later he was admitted at the Lisbon Superior School of Music, where he earned his degree, receiving the highest class honours of 20/20 in both solo and chamber music performances. He later continued his studies in England, where he completed his PhD in Music (Violin Performance).
Currently, Tiago Neto is Violin Professor and Head of Strings at the Lisbon Superior School Music, founder and Director of the Lisbon International Youth Music Festival and Deputy Director of the Lisbon Music Academy.
Aside from his musical studies, Tiago earned a Licenciatura (Bachelors) degree and a Masters degree in Business Administration at the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal.
