F – Friends / Family A teenagers first cigarette is usually with a friend. Also, parents or relatives are usually responsible for the 1st cigarette.

B – Biological Changes plus curiosity, experimentation, and peer pressure.

I – Independence Cigarette smoking is a symbol of independence.

1) Smoking is a learned behavior

2) Peer pressure and advertisement encourage this bad choice

3) Nicotine addiction can be caused by as little as 4 cigarettes

a) Nicotine affects wear off after 20 minutes

b) 2 to 3 days worse of nicotine addiction should be over

c) In 2 weeks, nicotine is out of body systems

d) First sign of nicotine addiction “is the urge to smoke”
