Controller SummaryFamily-owned metal stamper and fabricator seeking a Controller. Works in a three-person accounting department. Great opportunity for a detail-oriented accountant who enjoys a wide variety of tasks. Opportunities for advancement as retirements are anticipated in senior management. Under the direction of the CFO, the Controller directs the financial activities of the organization, prepares financial analyses of operations for the guidance of management decisions, and maintains and coordinates health insurance and other employee benefits. Will supervise an Accounting Assistant. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesWorking in a small business, the Controller can expect a wide variety of responsibilities and challenges. This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.Establish and maintain policies, procedures and practices relating to the management of all accounting related functions including cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit policies, billing, general ledger, and fixed asset accounting.Assist in planning and establishing economic goals and objectives for the company.Help prepare and review payroll. Prepare reports, which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income and expenses based on past, present, and expected operations.Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification. Maintain fixed assets records and determine depreciation rates of assets and advise management on operational adjustments due to tax revisions.Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain workpapers for outside accounting firm review. Prepare financial statements, tax returns, and other reports required by regulatory agencies.Maintain inventory records and complete monthly and annual inventory closing and pile information on quality and safety programs.Advise management about health, property, and workers compensation insurance coverage.Make daily bank deposits.Maintain cash balance.Approve invoices for further processing.Help administer employee benefit programsAssist with IT questions/problems. Education and/or Experience Requirements: Requires education generally equivalent to a bachelor's degree in accounting from a four-year college or university. CPA license preferred.
