By continually evaluating and adapting, clubs will retain enthused members, recruit effectively and have a positive impact on their communities at large.Leadership experiences help members develop and enhance skills to be more effective in their personal, professional and volunteer lives. SIA achieves this through our Dream Programs that increase access to education leading to economic empowerment. Together, we are working to achieve our Big Goal of investing in the dreams of half a million women and girls through access to education leading to economic empowerment by 2031. Part of a club president’s role is to review and evaluate the club’s projects to ensure they are advancing SIA’s strategic direction and are compatible with the SIA Strategic Plan.Every club is strongly encouraged to participate in SIA’s Dream Programs—Live Your Dream: Education & Training Awards for Women? and Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls. ? The Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women provides cash grants to women who have primary financial responsibility for their families and want to expand their education and skills. This program is valid in every SIA country and community. Women everywhere struggle to provide for themselves and their children and this program helps them to achieve their goals. For new Soroptimist clubs, SIA helps to jumpstart participation in our Live Your Dream Awards. We fund new clubs’ first Award recipient in the amount of US $1,000 within the first two years following the charter date.Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls helps girls grow up to be strong, successful, happy adults by targeting girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success. It provides girls with access to professional role models, career education and the resources to live their dreams. Soroptimists work in partnership with girls in small groups or a conference setting to provide information and resources they want and need to be successful.Big Goal Accelerator Projects are local club or region projects that increase access to education for women and girls facing obstacles, but are not the Dream Programs. The women and girls served through these projects will contribute to the half a million women and girls we will serve by 2031. Clubs should be sure to report their projects through the online reporting form so they can be counted towards the Big Goal! Working As One is a simple and fun exercise created to help clubs fully understand their work. All clubs are invited to examine the projects that take time and resources to ensure they are helping us achieve our Big Goal. After the exercise, use the decision tree to define your next steps. It is vital for clubs to report their participation and success with the Live Your Dream Awards and Dream It, Be It. Reporting enables SIA to evaluate the impact the organization is having on women and girls across the globe. Soroptimist Club Grants fund projects that support our Big Goal: Live Your Dream Awards, Dream It, Be It, or Big Goal Accelerator Projects. These Dream Programs would not be possible without the commitment and generosity of donors.As president of your club, you are in an important position to focus your clubs fundraising efforts. Focused fundraising events that speak to our mission maximize the number of women and girls we can serve, as well as the difference we make in these women and girls’ lives.SIA urges you to keep as much as 90% of fundraising proceeds in your own community to benefit local women and girls, and to contribute at least 10% of locally raised funds to SIA’s life changing Dream Programs. Your club gift of 10% or more in combination with other clubs will improve the lives of countless women and girls throughout our federation. Be a champion of this 10% message to your club members—it will benefit our organization both locally and globally. The 10% contribution (recognized as Club Giving) enables Soroptimist to have a focused global platform to help women and girls achieve their education. That impact in turn invites international recognition as well as the potential for partnerships.Founders Pennies are another great way to support our global work on behalf of women and girls, and are calculated using the following formula: .06 x years since 1921 x numbers of club members.
