The Encouraging Word ? Getting Older

Preface

This ebook was first presented, in part, as a short booklet at Winter Advance, Post Falls, Idaho in January 2018. The first Chapter has some dynamic verses from the Bible about what God speaks concerning getting older. A number of "seniors" from the Bible are also mentioned. All verses unless otherwise noted are from the KJV. The second Chapter has some very practical advice, with specific keys on how to keep "bearing fruit and flourishing" in old age. The third Chapter contains pictures and stories of over a dozen seniors around the world living their lives and inspiring others to do the same. Regardless of the topic, God's Word, the Bible, is always full of encouragement!

The Encouraging Word ? Getting Older

Chapter One Verses on Getting Older

Psalm 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Psalm 71:8, 9; 17, 18 Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.

O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.

Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

Psalm 91:14-16 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Psalm 92:12-15 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

The Encouraging Word ? Getting Older

Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; [NKJV - They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,]

To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Psalm 103:5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Proverbs 3:1-2 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

Proverbs 20:29 The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.

Isaiah 46:4 And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

Joshua 14:10-11 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.

I Corinthians 12:7, 27
