The Anderson Graduate School of Management

Three-Two MBA Program for Engineering Undergraduates

The Three-Two MBA Program permits a University of New Mexico student to complete both a bachelor’s degree in a field outside of The Anderson Schools of Management (ASM) and an MBA degree in five (5) years. Completion of the Three-Two Program for School of Engineering (SOE) students is accomplished in the following manner:

1. For the first two years of university studies, the student pursues a normal program (15-18 hours per semester) of undergraduate work in their engineering department.

2. During the junior year, the student will complete undergraduate coursework in the SOE, Economics and ASM departments, which will count toward the MBA program, with grades of B or better.

3. During the second semester of the junior year, the student applies for admission to the MBA program at ASM. The student is expected to meet regular MBA admission requirements, which include the application forms, three letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, current resume, and application fee, as well as:

a. Complete, by the end of the junior year, at least 90 hours of coursework toward the bachelor’s degree so as to be within one year of graduation. No fewer than 30 of these hours must have been taken at The University of New Mexico (UNM);

b. Achieve a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 on all work taken at UNM;

c. Take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and receive a score of 500 or above;

4. Once admitted to the MBA Program, the student will be in the senior year and will complete the remainder of courses needed to meet the requirement of 18 hours toward the MBA degree. The number of courses will depend on the Engineering curriculum the student is pursuing. Concurrently, the student completes the requirements for the bachelor’s degree.

5. In the fifth year of study, the student will be admitted to graduate status for the MBA program and have a minimum of 33 hours left to complete MBA degree requirements. Six hours of graduate coursework can be done in a department outside of ASM.

6. All MBA program degree requirements and academic regulations apply to students in the Three-Two programs.
