MEP and Engineer’s Club Career Fair
Just like the banquet the career fair was wonderful. There were 72 companies in attendance. Many of the MEP students got an interview and some even got offers. Everyone who got an interview should come into the MEP office and thank Ms. Kim Edwards for her wonderful job with organizing the career fair. Many hours were put into getting all the companies here and getting the booths set up. We also like to thank the Engineer’s Club for their help.

MEP Banquet Overflow
17th Annual MEP Awards Banquet
The 1998 awards banquet held on September 18 was a great success. There were 630 students, parents, OU staff and corporate recruiters in attendance. This is the highest number to ever attend the banquet. This is a tremendous improvement from 75 attendees in 1981. We want to give a big thanks to all of the MEP staff.
Highlights of the evening included when Ms. Jones explained why parents were hesitant to send their kids to Oklahoma. According to our wonderful assistant director, who never lies, Oklahoma is a place where a black town was burned down. This of course was the reason for the bewildered faces of Dean Porter and Dean Kumin.
However the most memorable moment was when all the students gave Ms. Kim Edwards a standing ovation after she received an award for her hard work and dedication. This was a testimony of the student’s appreciation for her dedication. Pedro Claudio, one of MEP’s best tutors, also received a standing ovation from the people he has tutored in the past.
For those of you who received an award, pictures from the banquet will be in soon. Don’t forget to stop by the office and order yours for your parents and family.
