Admissions to
Academic Year 2021
Holders of NVQ (SL) 5/6 or equivalent qualification are eligible to apply.
Those who seek admission to weekday programmes with G.C.E (A/L) qualifications,
only 2020 exam results will be considered.
Modes of degrees: B1 (Week days), B2 (Weekends), Duration - General Degree - Three years / Honours Degree - Four years Medium of Instructions: English Closing Date of Applications: 31.08.2021 An aptitude test will be conducted for eligible applicants of NVQ level 5 or equivalent diplomas: Only short-listed candidates for relevant degree programmes will be called for the aptitude test. For Weekday degree programmes, priority will be given to those who are qualified at NVQ level 5/6 or those who have equivalent diplomas, and the remaining vacancies will be filled with G.C.E (A/L) qualified candidates, based on Z-scores.

ii. HNDE, HNDQS, HNDA, NDT, NDES, NDET, or an equivalent qualification in a relevant technology area acceptable to the Academic Council of the University. or
iii. Any other qualification which the TVEC has accepted to be equivalent to NVQ level 5 or 6. or
iv. G.C. E (A/L) in a relevant streams (Only for weekday programme)
Education in Technology
I. NVQ level 5 or above in a relevant technology area or
ii. HNDE, NDT, NDES, NDET, NDICT in relevant technology area or equivalent qualifications acceptable to the Academic Council of the University. or
iii. Any other qualification which the TVEC has accepted as deemed to be equivalent to NVQ level 5 or 6 or
iv. Diploma offered by NIE at Colleges of Education in relevant field which is acceptable to the Academic Council of the University. Preference will be given to those applicants with post diploma industrial/teaching experience of at least one year duration.
Education in English Language Teaching
I. NVQ Level 5 ? Diploma in English and Education/ NVQ Level 6 ? HND in English and Education accepted by the TVEC or
II. National Diploma in Teaching (English) offered by NIE at Colleges of Education or
III. NDTT (ELT) offered by NITESL/University of Vocational Technology. or
IV. HND in English offered by SLIATE or
V. English Specialist Trained Teacher's Certificate or
VI. National Diploma in English offered by NITESL/ University of Vocational Technology. and any other qualification with an ELT related component acceptable to the Academic Council of the University
or vii. "S" pass for A/L English or "C" pass for A/L General English in any subject-stream (Only for weekday programme)
Translation Studies
i. NVQ Level 5 or 6 (English Language) or equivalent diploma course recognized by the Technical and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).
and
a 'B' pass or above for Sinhala in the G.C.E. O/L Examination. (Special consideration will be given for students of the Sinhala medium who have secured a 'B' pass or above for Tamil in the G.C.E. O/L Examination)
or ii. Having passed G.C.E. A/L in any subject-stream, and "S" pass for A/L English or "A" pass for A/L General English in any subject-stream
and a 'B' pass or above for Sinhala in the G.C.E. O/L Examination. (Special consideration will be given for students of the Sinhala medium who have secured a 'B' pass or above for Tamil in the G.C.E. O/L Examination) Student Selection: Eligible applicants are shortlisted and they are required to sit for an Aptitude Test conducted by the University of Vocational Technology. Selections will be done based on the marks obtained by the applicants.
Hotel Management
I. NVQ level 5 or above in the fields of Hospitality Management, Hotel & Tourism ii. Any other qualification in the field of hotel and tourism with a duration of minimum one (01) year full time or equivalent in part time offered by a Tertiary and Vocational
Education Commission (TVEC) registered training provider or an overseas institution acceptable to the Academic Council of the University with minimum two years (02) of
experience in a hotel rated three star or above.
Note :
* NVQ Equivalency of a qualification has to be certified by Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) or Committee on Equating & Validating Certificates and Diplomas of National
Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA). The candidate has to submit relevant documents issued by TVEC or NAITA along with the application.
* Exemptions may be granted for relevant modules after a proper evaluation for those who have NVQ level 6 or equivalent qualifications.
* You can apply with pending results, but the original certificate has to be produced at the registration.
One applicant should send only one application. Application form can be downloaded from uovt.ac.lk. The applicants who are employed should forward their applications through their respective employers. Please send the completed applications to the address given below on or before 31.08.2021 by registered post. Indicate clearly, the desired degree programme and the stream - NVQ or G. C. E. A/L , on the top left hand corner of the envelope. Please enclose, along with the application, copy of the certificate of the relevant qualification, the deposit slip of applications-processing fee of Rs 1000/= which may be obtained from any Bank of Ceylon Branch to the credit of University of Vocational Technology, Account Number 0070308457, Bank of Ceylon, Ratmalana Branch. (IMPORTANT- Incomplete applications and Applications without the deposit slip will be rejected.)
