Comments from Cathy

Welcome to 2020, a new decade and so many new opportunities. In 2019 the Northmont Chamber added several new benefits, giving businesses ways to save money and improve their bottom line. I realize everyone is so busy running their day to day operation and may not take time to check into some of the savings so I will try to give a brief description of the in the monthly newsletter, more on our website and also be available to visit or call to discuss with anyone interested. At our January PINGS meeting, Kelley Bell discussed the SOCA Benefit plan, one of the healthcare benefits available to members. I'm also working on the Chamber Annual Dinner, March 25th and the Golf Outing is May 20th. If you would like to host a Coffee Connection (the 1st Wednesday of the month 8-9 am), please call the Chamber office, 937-836-2550. Just a reminder my office is now inside Roth & Company, CPA, 215 W. National Rd. Englewood, I've had a few calls of members that didn't know where I was. The Community Book is almost finished, if you would still like to get an add, call me or reach out to Tommy Thompson. (NovoPrint). Don't forget to shop local, keep our dollars close to home.

New Area Code on the Way: What you need to know

Current phone numbers will not change. About the new area code: ? Calls currently considered local will remain local calls. Calls between 937 and the new 326 are local calls. ? Long distance calling will not change ? 911 and other three-digit numbers (222, 311, 411, etc.) if available in the community,

will not change. ? Customers should begin or continue to identify their phone number using the area code. ? The 937 area code will continue to be used until it is exhausted. ? The switch is still a couple months away, but cell users in the area need to begin dialing the area code, plus the 7-digit number beginning Feb. 8. After then, if a caller does not

use the new dialing procedures, the call will not go through and a recording will instruct the user to hang up and dial again.

Ribbon Cutting

On January 9, City of Clayton officials and Northmont Area Chamber board members did a ribbon cutting for Dayton Dental Solutions; welcome to the Community.

Never shorten 2020 to 20 on legal documents. The date could be changed to something in the past or even the future. Consumer advocates urge people to use the extra two numbers to date documents with 2020 simply to protect yourself. "Protect yourself, do not abbreviate 2020."

New Resident Packets

I've been very busy with new resident packets and running low on items. Please let me know if you have anything to include, this is a great way to tell new residents about yourself. FYI-items all go into a 6x9 envelope. Call me if you have any questions or want to drop something off. I normally do them the first of the month. Thank you.
