CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

The Florida Department of Transportation's contractor, Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, begins work on Tuesday, September 4 to install a new traffic signal at the intersection of SR 78/Pine Island Road and NE 24th Avenue/Hancock Creek South Boulevard in Lee County. The project limits are identified on the project location map below.

PROJECT IMPROVEMENTS

New mast arms and traffic signal heads will be installed on all four corners of the intersection.

New pedestrian signals will be installed. Additional work will be completed

simultaneously in the intersection by a developer as part of a separate contract. Estimated construction cost is $533,500.

PROJECT SCHEDULE

Construction starts Tuesday, September 4, 2018 and is estimated for completion at the end of 2018,

weather permitting.

No lane closures are permitted on eastbound SR 78/Pine Island Road from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. No lane closures are permitted on westbound SR 78/Pine Island Road from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

No lane closures are permitted on NE 24th Avenue/Hancock Creek South Boulevard during peak hours of 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. or from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Stay alert and watch for workers in the work zone.
