Use a pencil to draw a grid of 16 squares on your paper or canvas like the one shown below. Then find a picture and draw a grid of 16 squares over the picture. In the blank grid, draw what you see in the first square, then the second, and so on until you have drawn the entire picture. The grids will help you to line everything up. Remember to take your time. You can always erase. Use the two grids below to practice drawing. When your picture is complete, you can erase the grid lines and color it in.

Enlarging or Shrinking ? This technique can also be used to enlarge or shrink a picture. Use a larger or smaller grid to change the size of your picture.
