Course contents:

Master students from the faculty CiTG who are interested in entrepreneurship can follow the new Master Annotation Entrepreneurship. This masterprogramme trains students to become entrepreneurial, through a combination of courses and a graduation project that focuses on marketing a service or product.

Entrepreneurship can mean starting up your own business or corporate entrepreneurship, such as innovations in existing companies, take-overs, spin-outs, etc. Students who complete this programme successfully receive an Annotation with their degree. The Master Annotation Entrepreneurship is an extra effort on top of the Master education at CiTG that the student already follows.

The Annotation Entrepreneurship consists of two components:

1. A combination of entrepreneurship courses.

A MSc-coordinator of Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship (DCE) will hold intakes at any given time. During this intake the student and the coordinator put together an individual combination of courses specified to your needs and aligned with your Master education. This combination has to consist of at least 15 ects of entrepreneurshipcourses of which at least 10 ects are extracurriculair.

A few examples of interesting elective courses that can be follewed during the Annotation are:

- WM0516 Turning Technology into Business (6 ects)

- WM0563TU Starting New Ventures (3 ects)

- MOT9556 Corporate Entrepreneurship (6 ects)

- WM1203TU Design Challenge (12 ects)

- MOT9555 Opportunity Framing (2 ects)

Students that follow the Annotation are required to join the Entrepreneurship Annotation Week (EAW) during their master thesis. The EAW (WM4001TU), consist of a week-long boattrip, introduces students to eachother, high-tech start-ups, entrepreneurs, business angels and incubators in Zuid-Holland, while they tackle complex case studies in a competition.

2. A graduation project with an extra focus on entrepreneurship.

The graduation project can be carried out with the intention of starting up your own business or you can add an entrepreneurial touch to your graduation. In both cases, an entrepreneurial mentor from the TU Delft or from a business supervises the student specifically with regard to entrepreneurship.

Study Goals:

• Understand the practical business aspects of bringing a technology to the market (in either a corporate setting or in a new start-up);

• Analyze real-life business problems in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation;

• Further develop their insights into what their motivations, ambitions and objectives are as entrepreneurs (in either a corporate setting or in a new start-up);

• Be able to report their findings in a well-readable and attractive format, which should be easy to understand for decision makers;

• Present their findings in the form of a short 'elevator pitch', so that decision makers understand the value of the concept and are motivated to know more about it.

Education method:

Among others:

• Lectures

• Workshops and business games

• Internship

• Research

Literature and study materials:

N/A.

Assessment:

The list of courses will be approved and signed by the DCE coordinator, the faculty coordinator of CiTG and the student. The final product of the annotation, which should be geared towards the student’s topic in his Master thesis, is assessed by a mentor assigned by the Delft Centre for Entrepreneurship.

Targetgroup:

Master students from CiTG who are interested in entrepreneurship, already have their own company and want to improve their skills or who want to become more accustomed with the skills an entrepreneur needs to succeed.
