Students are expected to attend all synchronous lessons, as they are unfolding via various electronic platforms. Science teachers will continue to incorporate laboratory activities, opportunities for scientific inquiry, and ample platforms for scientific discourse. E-learning presents challenges, but also provides avenues for technological and scientific advancement. The science department aims to take advantage of these avenues.Science teachers, as well as all other Annapolis High School teachers, will hold virtual meetings throughout the week for help and to answer questions. My E-Schedule for APES 4A is:Assignments and homework posted: Each Monday by 8:30 Synchronous class meetings: Tues/Fri 2:05-2:50 Office Hours: Mon. 2:55-3:30, Wed. 2:30-3:00, and Fri. 2:55-3:30Flex Learning Time: Wed. 10:15-10:55 and Friday 10:40-11:25 Course OverviewAims: The aims of any MYP subject state in a general way what the teacher may expect to teach or do, and what the student may expect to experience or learn. The composite score is then converted to a grade on AP’s 5-point scale:5 - Extremely well qualified - College Credit granted at all institutions accepting AP scores-3 college credits or more4 - Well qualified - College Credit granted at all institutions accepting AP scores-3 college credits/rarely more3 – Qualified -College Credit granted at MOST institutions accepting AP scores-up to 3 college credits2 - Possibly qualified -College Credit rarely granted at institutions accepting AP scores-up to 3 college credits1 - No recommendation -College Credit not grantedAP Exam grades of 5 are equivalent to A grades in the corresponding college course. AP Exam grades of 4 are equivalent to grades of A–, B+, and B in college. AP Exam grades of 3 are equivalent to grades of B–, C+, and C in college.Required materials965200190500Students are expected to bring the following materials to every class every day:3” Binder (with dividers: Class notes, videos, Practice problems, Lab data, Homework)Lined PaperPencil and/or Pen Agenda (given out on Day 1, kept in binder)Students are expected to bring the following materials to every class every day:3” Binder (with dividers: Class notes, videos, Practice problems, Lab data, Homework)Lined PaperPencil and/or Pen Agenda (given out on Day 1, kept in binder)-Access to the internet via school-issued Chromebook or personal computer.Safety Protocol:?SAFETY in the classroom is our TOP PRIORITY. Lab reports will be due approximately one week after the class designated for data collection. The lab reports will be assessed according to guidelines distributed to students during the first data collection class of the school year. Students may either work in their assigned groups to submit a lab report on behalf of the group, or a student can write a lab report independently. If a student writes a report independently, then the remaining students in the lab group are still required to complete a lab report. Notification of a student writing a lab report independently must be received by the teacher no later than 48 hours before the report is due. A Lab report submitted by students from multiple assigned groups will receive a score of 0. Labs will typically take place approximately 3 times per quarter.
