ANNOUNCEMENTS
Online Attendance-Teachers must verify absences online as soon as the student returns to class. Please send notes to the office if reason for the absence is returned 4 days after absence. When the LAUSDMax system is down, please hold onto your list to enter the attendance later in the day when you have a chance. If your internet is down or your computer crashes, go ahead and send your attendance to the office so they can input it.
Bloody Noses – Please follow M. Schmitter’s recommendation regarding bloody noses. Have the child hold tissues
Around the fatty part of the nose while sitting in an upright position for 5 minutes. If the bleeding does not stop after
5 minutes, go ahead and send to the office. This will prevent blood dripping from the classroom all the way to the
Office. Dispose of bloody tissues in wastebasket and tie up the bag so the custodial staff knows it is contaminated.
Jury Duty-Must be postponed to winter or summer break. Notify the office immediately if for some reason you were not able to postpone to those times. You will be given a letter describing the impact your absence will have on the school.
Personal Calls – The office cannot accept personal calls, except in emergency situations. Please ensure people can leave messages for you at home or on your cell.
Parent Volunteers- Please don’t ask volunteers to hand deliver work to classrooms so as not to interrupt classes during instructional time. Please have them leave projects/work in the appropriate teacher’s box.

PERFECT ATTENDANCE – Please put a note in with your attendance cards every Friday morning when your class has had perfect attendance for the week. Three weeks of Perfect Attendance equals one hour of planning time for you and an ice cream treat for students!
Math Updates-The Princeton review is now CORE K12 and the new website is . Please save this website so you can enter your students’ quarterly math scores if necessary. For information, research, and updates about math instruction, visit and the new MIG is aligned with the enVision math series and is available for download at 4th and 5th grade students must use answer sheets for quarterly assessments-do not allow students to write in test booklets.

UCLA DOCTOR OF EDUCATION (ED.D.) IN EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP
Applications are now being accepted for UCLA’s Ed.D. Cohort for Fall 2010. Educational Leadership Program (ELP) is seeking applicants who are committed to improving educational practice. Each cohort embarks on a three-year experience that they do together in a student-supported environment with outstanding UCLA faculty and expert practitioners. Since 1993, more than 265 students have graduated. Many are helping to improve educational
outcomes as administrators within school sites and district offices. Each cohort of 25 – 30 students includes a variety of accomplished educators. Courses are
