PREPARATION
Motivation:
The fire service in general is very pro-active in the use of self-contained
breathing apparatus. The fire fighter has superior protection from products
of combustion and IDLH atmospheres. The SCBA unit (harness, cylinder
regulator and facepiece) however can be a breeding ground for numerous
individual health threats.
Objective (SPO):
After discussion and demonstration of proper technique by the lead instructor
the student will properly disinfect and sanitize a SCBA unit. The student
will utilize a SCBA DISINFECTING/SANITIZING task evaluation sheet.
The lead instructor will complete a task evaluation sheet for each student
All items on the task evaluation sheet MUST receive a satisfactory mark.
Overview:
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
• Facepiece
• Regulator
• Cylinder
• Harness
This lesson is based on the use of the SCOTT AV-2000 and AV-3000

SUMMARY
Review:
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
• Facepiece
• Regulator
• Cylinder
• Harness
Remotivation:
Remind the student of the importance of SCBA use. The SCBA will provide
superior protection from products of combustion and IDLH atmospheres.
