Definition

A three-dimensional artwork that may be created from various types of materials, commonly stone (either rock or marble), metal, glass, wood, ice, clay, etc.

A person who creates sculptures is called a sculptor.

Ways to Create Sculptures

• Mold - Clay, Pottery

• Carve - Wood, Ice, Types of Stone

• Assemble/Build - Various Materials (Wood, found objects)

Wire Sculpture[pic]

Goal:

Create an abstract sculpture using wire and nylon and techniques learned in class.

Success Criteria:

1. You will be able to manipulate the wire into an interesting shape.

2. You will be able to secure the wire onto a wooden block and create balance to prevent the sculpture from falling over,

3. You will be able to cover the wire with nylon carefully to prevent tears and secure it to the block of wood neatly.

4. You will be able to prime the sculpture.

5. You will be able to paint the sculpture with a design of your choice (must be approved before you begin).

6. You will be able to set up and clean up properly, keep your area tidy, follow the instructions and use class time well.
