The Earth has been around for the past 4.6 billion years. Just as human life is marked by the changes from infant, to child, to adolescent, to adult. The Earth’s years have been marked by geologic, environmental, and biological changes. Earth’s history is broken into large divisions called eons then eras, periods, and epochs. These categories help geologist better understand Earth’s long history. In this project you are going to take a closer look at one small part of Earth’s long history.

Task: You are going to pick an era, period or epoch and create a presentation to share what you have learned with your family, friends, and community.

How: Your presentation will be a video, website, powerpoint, poster or some other visual to display your findings. You can work alone or with up to 2 other students.

What You Need To Answer:

1. What tectonic/geologic events were affecting NYS?

2. What were the continents doing at the time?

3. What was the atmosphere/climate like?

4. What was animal life on Earth like?

5. What was plant life like?
