MRS. BOUDA’S CLASS POLICIES

HONORS EARTH SCIENCE 2014-2015

Lisa.Bouda@

SUPPLIES

3-ringed binder, paper, composition book. Colored pencils are recommended

GRADING

The surest way to a poor grade is to be absent or not complete assignments!

Check Pinnacle often to catch any mistakes!

EXTRA CREDIT

Extra credit opportunities will be announced mainly through my website.

BINDERS

A three-ringed notebook (binder) with loose-leaf paper is required. Notebooks will be kept in CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER. ALL PAGES MUST BE DATED IN THE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER. Notebooks will be checked, without notice, for contents, note taking and neatness. Bring it to class everyday.

TEXTBOOKS

You do not need to bring your textbook every day. Take it home and leave it there. You will most likely only need your book in class on test days. IT IS NOT ON-LINE!! But there are some handy tools associated with the text on: Save it!

MAKEUP WORK

It is YOUR responsibility to find out what work needs to be made up. Check my website for missed work. You are responsible for turning in any work that was due while you were gone on the day you return. Make up work must be turned in directly to Mrs. Bouda at the beginning of class!!! Makeup labs, test or quizzes are usually made up before or after school. If the assignment has been corrected and returned to the rest of the class, you may no longer make it up!

RETURN TRAY

All checked work will be found here if you were not in class when it was returned. Things will only stay in this tray for 1 week , then it’s in the garbage.

LATE WORK

I will accept work one day late only with a 20% grade reduction. If this becomes a habit, I will not accept late work from you. Most assignments are collected at the beginning of the hour, and must be turned in then to get full credit.

EXTRA HELP

I encourage any student who is having trouble with their work to seek help as soon as possible. I will be available after school everyday except Tuesdays. You may also catch me before school at 7:30. If you are struggling with tests, please come for help!!!

TEST AND QUIZZES

Test will be announced well in advance and will average 40 points. Review sheets will be given before a test. On average there are 4-5 tests per quarter.

LAB PARTNERS

Students will be assigned lab partners at random. Partners will be switched about every 2 weeks. You and your lab partner are a team and should both do your share of the lab work. COPIED LAB REPORTS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. Your data will be the same, but conclusion questions are to be done by yourself.

LABS

All labs must be neat and legible. Points may be deducted for messy labs. All students must follow lab procedures and observe lab safety. Any misbehavior in lab will result in a zero for the lab and a referral or worse.

OTHER STUFF

Passes will be given in extreme emergency only. Take care of other business at another time, not during Earth Science, you will miss something important. Abuse of passes will result in denial of passes.

Paying attention in class is expected at all times. .

Cell phones are only to be used during permitted time.

.

MRS. BOUDA’S PET PEEVES- ***IMPORTANT***

There are a few things that really annoy me, and I think you should be aware of them:

1. lining up at the door

2. litter- Let’s keep our room clean

3. being rude- to each other, me, a sub, anyone!

4. lying- if you did it, be truthful and save us all more problems.

5. I hate copycats! Do not tell me “we split the work” or “we worked together”.

DO YOUR OWN WORK!

6. Texting drives me crazy! Pay attention.

7. Arriving late to class.
