Summer Assignment – A.P. European HistoryThe summer assignment in A.P. European History will be in four parts: 1) There will be a brief summary of Chapter 11 in the Jackson Spielvogel textbook, Western Civilization. 2) There will be a short chronological order section. 3) There will be 10 identifiers to be completed on notecards, and 4) there will be a map with 12 countries that need to be labeled on it. For this assignment, you will need a copy of the textbook. We will be using the textbook, Western Civilization, by Jackson Spielvogel. There are several options for the textbook. I have attached Chapter 11 – The Later Middle Ages: Crisis and Disintegration in the Fourteenth Century - as a pdf file. You may also purchase your own copy. I would recommend getting an older version, slightly used. Also, I would recommend getting Volume I: to 1715 for the purposes of the summer assignment. If you would like the entire year, you will want to buy Volume II. However, this version will start in year 1500 and will NOT include Chapter 11. If you use Amazon, you can purchase “very good condition books” relatively cheaply. The ISBN # of a 5th edition version is 0-534-60007-7. I would get a paperback version in which you can write. This version will only run through year 1715. This will also serve you well for the purposes of getting an A.P. European History Study Guide. I will be giving a grade in September for purchasing an AP European History study guide and bringing it to class. I will have a list of the top five choices on my website as well. We start at the Renaissance (rebirth), but to understand why/ what it is a rebirth from, I need you to read Chapter 11 and complete the worksheet and activities which accompany it.
