The Music HallThe Music Hall has just re-opened having undergone a major redevelopment. It is one of Scotland’s oldest and most historic concert halls. It stands on Union Street in the centre of Aberdeen and has been at the heart of cultural life in the city for nearly 200 years. The main auditorium has an excellent acoustic and a capacity of 1300 seated. It also has two smaller spaces, Big Sky Studio and Tutti Creative Learning Studio. The Lemon TreeThe Lemon Tree was formed in 1992 as the base venue for Aberdeen’s Alternative Festival.? The two performance spaces – the 550 capacity Lounge, and 166 seat Studio – bring cutting edge music, theatre, comedy and dance to the city, and provide unforgettable, intimate opportunities to see an exciting array of small-scale performing arts in the North-east.THE POSTThe Cultural Programming Associate is a new post within the Aberdeen Performing Arts Creative Team responsible for delivering and supporting programming across all three of our iconic venues at small, mid and large scale and contributing to our three festivals, True North, Granite Noir and Light the Blue. Our venues and festivals provide a unique opportunity to take artists and audiences on a journey from small scale, new, intimate, experimental work to large scale, commercial concerts and productions, from supporting new and young talent to celebrating the work of established artists.You will deliver an area of programming, which will be aligned as closely as possible to your personal areas of interest and most knowledge. You will also support the other programme leads to administer the wider cultural programme. Artist liaison is a critical element of the job, ensuring that they, and us, have all the necessary information in place to ensure that programmes run smoothly. As a result, this is a role that will work closely with all APA teams including marketing, customer services, box office, technical, finance, producing and creative learning. You will have excellent planning and communication skills, and excel at forming and maintaining relationships, internally and externally. Curiosity and a desire to learn and develop will be critical to succeeding in this role, which will involve coaching and training from experienced programmers to build a solid foundation of knowledge.You will live and breathe the arts, have a basic understanding of the national arts and cultural scene and love to attend concerts, productions, festivals and events when you can. The programming team is overseen by the Director of Programming and Creative Projects, and the organisation’s overall artist lead is the Chief Executive. JOB PURPOSEThe Cultural Programming Associate is a member of the Programming and Creative Projects Team, responsible for assisting with the delivery and development of Aberdeen Performing Arts cultural programme by delivering programming, artist liaison and information coordination. Salary circa ?22,000 based on 37 hours per week.Normal working days will be Monday – Friday, with some evening and weekend work. Overtime is not payable.
