It was a lovely feeling to walk around and enjoy the experience of being part of a wonderful school community. At final count, the total money raised will be $8000.00 profit, which is an incredible amount.Our students performed beautifully at the Kmart Wishing Tree. Once again, their singing was outstanding and their behaviour upstairs at the Morning Tea provided by Kmart was exemplary. It is a pleasure to take these students on school outings.I apologise for the short notice about the Year 2 Fundraiser, the Movie and Pizza Night being held on Thursday 23rd November at 5.30pm. This is due to my absence. If you have any difficulties with this, please see me.There a many events coming up as we near the end of term. One of the big events is the excursion to the Reptile Park. Thank you to the P&C for covering the cost of the bus. If you have any difficulties with meeting these costs, please see Mrs Mortimer or myself. Also, the vouchers in the Entertainment book are not valid for a school excursion.Please keep up-to-date with alerts on Skoolbag and the newsletter, so that you are informed of all the activities coming up.Finally, thank you to everyone for your support in my sudden absence. Just a reminder about the safest use of the pedestrian crossing, there is an orange line at both sides of the entry to the crossing. It is a specified distance from the edge of the road. It is a requirement that you wait behind the orange line until you are signalled to cross by the supervisor.Also, please be aware that you may be fined if you park in the disabled zone at the front of the school and you do not have a disabled parking permit. Also be aware, that the person with the permit must be present to use it. Thank you for your understanding.Grandparent’s DayWe will include photos of Grandparent’s Day in the next newsletter as this newsletter was printed before this event.Kindergarten Orientation Days2018 Kindergarten students have now completed their transition visits to school. Our Year 1 students have enjoyed the beginning of their responsibilities as Buddies and next week, will undergo further training in looking after their Buddies. It is a big responsibility and the Year 1 students are expected to be exemplary role models for their Kinder Buddies.Year 2 Transition VisitsThe Year 2 students who will be attending Maitland Public School next year, have participated in a transition visit last Monday. A number of students who are moving to different schools have also had their visits. It is a time of change and some students faced the transition with trepidation, but all students have returned on Tuesday with news and positive thoughts about their new school. More information will be provided closer to the next transitions.K-Mart Wishing TreeFor those of you who were lucky enough to attend the Kmart Wishing Tree performance, you would have enjoyed the lovely performance by our students. This event is much anticipated by our older students each year. Thank you for your support in decorating hats and providing gifts for the Kmart Wishing Tree. Wendy from Kmart wished to express her appreciation to the parents of Nillo Infants for allowing your children to do this each year. Reptile Park ExcursionOur end of year excursion is in the process of being organised and this year we will be going to the Australian Reptile Park at Gosford on Friday December 8th. This is an excellent facility with great educational programs. We will be catching a bus to the park on the day and will be attending the “Life Cycles” show in the morning before touring the park after lunch. The P&C are generously paying for the bus for the day so that the cost for the excursion is $13 (park entry). We will not require any parent helpers on the day. Please return the attached boomerang blue permission note with payment to the office.Year 2 Movie and Pizza NightA note was sent home yesterday about the Year 2 Fundraiser, the Movie and Pizza night. It will be held on Thursday 23rd November, 5.30pm – 7.30pm. Year 2 are providing this fun night of entertainment to raise money for their farewell gift to the school. Please read the note carefully as the movie with the most popular vote will be shown, not each child’s preference, but they will get their pizza choice. Also, this event is limited to current Nillo Infants students and also 2018 Kindergarten students.Year 2 T-Shirt OrdersA note has been sent home about ordering the Year 2 T-Shirt. Please return your required size and money now as the order will be placed on Monday 20th November. If you have any difficulties please see Mrs Sellens. Thank you to the P&C for reducing the cost of each shirt by $10.00.Annual Presentation DayThis will take place on Wednesday 6th December, commencing at 9.30am. We hope you can make this special event in our school calendar. It will be followed by Special Recess and we hope you can stay and enjoy this time with your child/ren.Christmas ConcertThis will take place on Thursday 14th December after school hours. More details will be distributed closer to the date. Outstanding PaymentsIf you have any outstanding payments for the activities your child has undertaken this year, please send this in as soon as possible. Parents are reminded that the school holds funds to assist families who have temporary financial difficulties. If you would like to access these funds, please speak to Mrs Sellens or Mrs Mortimer.
