Mission name is San Carlos Borromeo De Carmelo

Mission was named after Charles Borremeo. He was a

16th century Cardinal and the archbishop of Milan, Italy.

Designs of the mission

The roof and walls were made of yellow sand

stone. The sandstone is made with abalone shells. It's formed in a quadrangle with a fountain in the middle surrounded by beautiful gardens and olive trees. The bell tower holds 8 bells with a staircase. There were hardly any acres.

Mission Music

Music has been a part of a life time. There were plenty of songs for everybody to sing, especially children. While they were singing, they use drums, rattles, and flutes which were made from wood. Everyone was attracted to music and enjoyed it. Soon they formed a choir for males and the choir were invited to many of festivals.

The Mission Today

Today the mission everything is all fixed up. The church was restored with pastel colors.

In the past they taught how to trade, hunt, learn how to cook, and how to talk.

They had medicine men to heel people not a pharmacy.
