All year: Pick up free maps/guides from the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce and explore the dozens of hiking and biking trails in the area. Tour our region's many art galleries. Treat yourself to a day of antiquing. Pick up a copy of Antiques in the Rockport, Camden, and Lincolnville area at the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce. Take a trip back in time to the days of penny lollipops and classic chocolate bars at Uncle Willy's Candy Shoppe in Camden, Snowdrop Confections and Bixby in Rockland. Free to look! Pick up a Peyton Place filming map and legend at the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce and visit the actual Camden locations where 90% of this 1957 classic movie starring Lana Turner was filmed. Visit the site of the former (1824-2002) Maine State Prison in Thomaston. Most of the site is a vacant grassed over field, but at the southeast edge of the property a small, angled section of the prison wall was left standing as a marker to the prison's history. The shop and studio of David Jacobson Glass on Choate Road in Montville is off the beaten path but worth the trip. Admire the artists bowl, glasses, vases, platters and sculptures and watch him work. Glass blowing lessons available, not free. Call ahead. At Rockport Marine Park there are three restored lime kilns and a replica of a locomotive used to transport the lime on an elevated railroad line in the 1800s. There is also a marble statue of Andre the Seal, the subject of two books and a 1994 feature film. Watch the sunrise over Camden Harbor from a bench in Harbor Park located on Atlantic Avenue. Enjoy the Boardwalk in Rockland and watch the ferry come in and out of the Harbor, then walk along to Sandy Beach to collect sea glass. Stop by the Vesper Hill Children's Chapel on Chapel Road in Rockport. This nondenominational outdoor chapel is a great place to relax, meditate, paint or draw. There is also a formal garden and spacious lawn for picnicking. Take the Heritage Trees and & Treescapes walking tour on Chestnut and Bayview Streets in Camden. Guide with map is available at the Chamber of Commerce.

Tour Windsor Chairmakers' expansive workshop and showroom in Lincolnville. Browse the shops along Rockland's Main Street and Camden's Main Street. Walk the Rockland Breakwater to the Rockland Lighthouse. Visit Lincolnville Beach to explore the tidal pools and search for sea glass. Hike any number of trails in Camden Hills State Park. This 5,700-acre park boasts 30

miles of trails. Pick up a map at the park entrance on Route 1. Visit the Friends of Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center of Maine

on Water Street in Rockland. Visit Owls Head Lighthouse and Visitors center, walk in the State Park and picnic on the

beach. Hike or ski the trials at Tanglewood 4H Camp and Learning Center located off One

Tanglewood Rd in Lincolnville. Maps at the trailhead. Museum in the Streets ? walk around Thomaston's outdoor museum, comprised of a

series of twenty-five plaques with historic photographs and legends, in both English and French, about the town's history. Drive down the St. George Peninsula to Port Clyde. Seated at the very tip of St. George peninsula, this fascinating town offers great food and recreation in a real working harbor. Take time at any of our humane societies and walk a dog or cuddle a cat. Walk the Community Wellness Trail, Pen Bay Medical center, Rockport. Parking and access off Route 1. Bixby ? Enjoy finding out about Rockland's craft confectionery on the working waterfront, Visitors can stop by the retail room, learn about the bean to bar process, and sample chocolate. Open Monday-Friday, 10 am - 4:30 pm, and weekends by appointment. Walk the 5.5-mile Rockland Harbor Trail, from Snow Marine Park to the Rockland Breakwater. Maps from the Rockland Visitor Center.

Spring: Visit the Belted Galloway Cows at Aldermere Farm in Rockport. Visit Cellardoor Winery on Youngtown Road in Lincolnville, free tasting. May-December. Bring a picnic and take a stroll through the grounds of the Merryspring Nature Center off Route 1 in Camden. First Friday Art Walks in Rockland. Participating galleries of Arts in Rockland (AIR) host receptions on the first Friday, May ? November as well as Memorial Day Weekend. Maple Syrup Sunday. Always the fourth weekend in March. A variety of events throughout Maine see press for details. Enjoy Camden during their Blooming weekend in May a downtown celebration that has become a true sign of spring. Sidewalk sales, music, kid's events and fun.

Summer: Check the local press for free summer concerts in Rockland, Camden and Rockport. The School House Museum of the Lincolnville Historical Society occupies an 1892 building known as the Beach School. Open 1-4 p.m. Mon/Wed/Fri from June to early October. During the summer attend a Friday night slide show at The Maine Photographic Workshops in Rockport. First Friday Art Walks in Rockland. Participating galleries of Arts in Rockland (AIR) host receptions on the first Friday, May ? November as well as Memorial Day Weekend. Farnsworth Art Museum and Center for Maine Contemporary Art free during the Art Walk. 5pm-7pm. Camden Amphitheatre - The Camden Public Library hosts a wide range of movies, concerts, and performances during the summer. In July the Camden Public Library hosts the Harbor Arts and Books Fair held in Camden Amphitheater Thomaston ? Old fashioned Fourth of July parade and festivities. Camden Fourth of July - Join the community in Harbor Park for music and fireworks Sit along Rockland Main Street and view the huge Lobster Festival parade. Go to the Lobster Festival on the community day, free on Sunday. Every Labor Day weekend, Camden hosts a windjammer celebration of maritime heritage Dust off the tennis rackets and head for an open tennis court at Camden Hills Regional High School or Oceanside High School in Rockland. Visit Cellardoor Winery on Youngtown Road in Lincolnville, free tasting. May-December. Camden historic downtown walking tour - Fridays at 4:00pm, Late June?Mid-September call 207-236-3440 or stop by the Camden Library circulation desk. Bring a picnic and take a stroll through the grounds of the Merryspring Nature Center off Route 1 in Camden. Visit Project Puffin located at 311 Main Street in downtown Rockland. Visit Marshall Point Lighthouse ? Open daily sunrise to sunset. The Museum and Gift shop are open Memorial Day to Columbus Day Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday to Friday 1pm5pm. During the growing season visit one of our many Farmer's markets. Rockland Thursday 9am-1pm. Camden Wednesday 3.30-6.30 and Saturday 9am - noon. Farnsworth Art Museum. Rockland. July through September: Free Admission on Wednesdays 5 - 8 p.m. From June through October, the museum offers free admission to all on First Fridays Rockland Art Walk from 5 - 8 p.m. Thomaston Historical Society Museum ? the Farmhouse is at 80 Knox Street.

Winter: Rockland Festival of Lights, Thanksgiving weekend including a parade on Saturday night. Camden Christmas by the Sea a full weekend of events, the first weekend in December. Camden Winterfest in January. In February check out the costumes and cheer on one of the hundred or so teams competing in the annual National Toboggan Championships at the Camden Snow Bowl.
