Ext. Night

CHELSEY and LUC are stargazing on the

Porch

CHELSEY

It’s beautiful out here tonight, under the stars.

LUC

Yep, it sure is. Being out here looking up at the sky and looking at my favorite star.

CHELSEY

Oh, Luc how thoughtful of you thinking of me like that!

LUC

No! I meant the star Polaris. What did you think I meant?

CHELSEY

(Weeping)

I thought you meant me. I thought I was your favorite star.

LUC

Chelsey, you know I meant you. You are my favorite star. I really like you and you like me. But I never show it.

CHELSEY

Look it’s the Big Dipper.

LUC

And the Little Dipper.

CHELSEY

I see Orion’s Belt!

LUC

And Uranus!

CHELSEY

Luc!

LUC

What?

Ext. Night

CHELSEY’S Cabin

CHELSEY

Boy, did I have a great time with you tonight.

LUC

Do you think we could do this again sometime?

CHELSEY

Maybe, I’ll write you a note. Okay.

LUC

Okay. I’ll be waiting for your note.

Starts to leave

CHELSEY

Wait! I know it is usually hard for you to say those three magical words. But . . .

LUC

But what?

CHELSEY

I’m sorry. But I can’t stand listening to you.

LUC

Listening to me? Why?

CHELSEY

I don’t know why really.

LUC

So you’re saying . . .

CHELSEY

Yep, I don’t like you.

LUC

But why?

CHELSEY

I think… I think… I think your gay. And I think you like someone else also.

CHELSEY goes into the cabin

LUC

Wait! I’m not . . .

No answer

. . . gay. So I guess she won’t be writing me.

Ext. Night

LUC is going to cabin

LUC

Gay. Why did she call me gay? Do I act like I’m gay? No. Why would I ask her out on a date if I were gay? I was being sweet. Is that why? It can’t be.

LUC gets to his cabin

Int. Night

LUC’s cabin

LUC

I’m too depressed to change.

Goes to his sleeping bag and gets into it and cries himself to sleep

Int. Day

LUC’S dream

LUC and CHELSEY are at a table and another girl named STACEY is right behind LUC’s chair at another table. The room looks like a restaurant.

LUC

How did you like your meal?

CHELSEY

It is good. I really loved the steak.

LUC

Chelsey, I have something to tell you. It is going to be hard though.

CHELSEY

Yeah go on.

LUC

Chelsey, I – I – I luu . . .

CHELSEY

Yeah what are you trying to say.

LUC

I – luuu . . . I luu . . .

CHELSEY

What are you saying?

LUC

Wait a sec.

CHELSEY

Okay?

LUC Turns around and says in a half voice

LUC

I love you. I love you. I love you.

And now in a regular voice

I love you!

STACEY

What did you say to me?

LUC looks up and notices STACEY and says dreamy-eyed

LUC

I love you?

CHELSEY

What? What did you say? I – I hate you Luc, you’re a sleaze.

I hope you die.

LUC

CHELSEY, wait I – I – I can explain!

CHELSEY

Explain it to your new girl! BYE!

Int. Night

LUC’s cabin

LUC

Bolts up-right in his bed

Noooooooo! I have to talk to Chelsey!

Int. Day

CHELSEY and STACEY’s cabin

CHELSEY and STACEY are cleaning the cabin

CHELSEY

Do you know who Luc is?

STACEY

Yeah, I think he’s hot.

CHELSEY

Well, I hate him.

STACEY

So. I think he is so cute, with that smile of his.

CHELSEY

He smiles too much.

KNOCK at door

BOTH

Come in!

LUC comes in

LUC

Chelsey, I need to talk to you.

CHELSEY

Go away!

STACEY

Talk to the poor guy. Luc?

LUC

Yeah.

STACEY

I don’t think your gay.

LUC

At least someone thinks that I’m not!

CHELSEY

STACEY, I don’t care what you think.

STACEY

How about I just leave the two of you alone to talk

Leaves the cabin, but stays near the door

LUC

Listen to me, Chelsey.

No answer

Please. Okay you don’t need to listen to me.

CHELSEY

I’m not listening.

LUC

I’ll just talk; you don’t need to listen. I love you . . . and STACEY also. But I like you more. I had a dream last night.

CHELSEY doesn’t even care what LUC is saying. CHELSEY is just cleaning the cabin.

LUC

You and I were eating together and I wanted to tell you something but I couldn’t, so I turned around to try to get confidence in saying I love you but STACEY heard me say it and she thought I said it to her.

CHELSEY is now folding her clothes

LUC

And you got very mad and then left. Now, I don’t know what to do. I thought coming here would help me. But I guess it doesn’t. So, I’ll just have to leave. Bye.

LUC leaves

CHELSEY

Luc!

No answer

Bye.

STACEY comes in

STACEY

What did you tell him to make him leave?

CHELSEY

Nothing I didn’t talk to him at all. He told me that he loved me and he likes you too.

STACEY

He likes me. I thought he despised me.

CHELSEY

Nope.

Int. Day

LUC’s cabin

LUC is lying on his bed, a KNOCK is heard at the door.

LUC

Come in!

STACEY comes in not knowing why

STACEY

You sent for me.

LUC

Yeah. It’s a good thing to. I have to tell you something.

STACEY

So what do you want to tell me?

LUC

Well I like you . . . a lot. And I was wondering if you would like to go to the dance with me on Thursday?

STACEY

Let me think.

Pause

Yes I will. But . . .

LUC

But what?

STACEY

Why me?

LUC

Well Chelsey..

STACEY

Chelsey?

LUC

Yeah, well she won’t talk to me and right now she hates me. And I don’t think it would be right asking her.

BELL is heard

LUC

Well that’s the supper bell. You go to supper. I’m not hungry.

STACEY

Okay though.

STACEY starts to leave

LUC

Wait!

STACEY

What! I’m hungry

LUC goes to STACEY

What. What’s the problem?

LUC gets closer

I’m going to be late

LUC dives in for a kiss and STACEY accepts it and they start kissing. DILLON (LUC’s cabin buddy) comes by and opens the door and sees LUC and STACEY kissing. DILLON is stunned and runs away.

Int. Night

Supper

CHELSEY is at one table and there is a space at CHELSEY’s table, and two more empty spaces at LUC’s table

CHELSEY

Should I ask Luc to the dance?

SARAH

Yeah, I think you should.

DILLON comes running into the mess hall

JOE

You’re late Dillon. Now our table will have to get our food last because of you.

TRAY

Dillon, by the way where is Luc.

DILLON

Luc was K-I-S-S-I-N-G a girl in the cabin.

TRAY

What? Who?

DILLON

STACEY.

SARAH

What are you looking at?

CHELSEY

Where’s Luc.

SARAH

STACEY is not here either. How can that be?

CHANDA

Maybe they’re kissing

Everyone at the table laugh.

SARAH

That can’t happen. Luc hates STACEY.

Two different conversations between the boys table and the girls table.

JOE

Does Chelsey know about this?

SARAH

No, I don’t know where they can be. They won’t be with each other. I know that for sure!

LAUGHTER is heard

DILLON

Yes I’m sure Chelsey doesn’t know.

TRAY

Should we tell . . .

DILLON

No! We can’t if she finds out. Luc will be dead.

JOE

But . . .

SARAH

But what?

CHELSEY

When shall I tell Luc?

LAUGHTER is heard again. LUC and STACEY come in. Their hair is messed up and laughing.

JOE and SARAH

Look there they are!

SARAH

But why are they together?

DILLON

Where were you?

JOE

Like we know!

DILLON

Shut up!

LUC

Like you need to know.

CHELSEY

And where were you?

STACEY

Me?

CHELSEY

No the person behind you with the messed up hair. Yes you.

STACEY fixes up her hair

CHELSEY

So what were you doing to get that fantastic hairdo?

STACEY

If you really want to know

All the girls at the table lean in closer

STACEY

Well, I was kissing someone.

SARAH

Who?

KELLY

Was he sweet?

JANET

Is he a good kisser?

STACEY

I won’t tell you anything. Well, yes he is sweet. And sort of a good kisser.

Ext. Night

Porch

LUC is on the porch looking up at the stars and swatting bugs

LUC

I hope . . .

CHELSEY goes outside when LUC says “hope”

LUC

Chelsey doesn’t get mad at me for what I did.

CHELSEY

Chelsey doesn’t get mad at what?

LUC

Oh nothing!

CHELSEY

Is there any thing I need to know?

LUC

Uhh, I don’t think so. So why are you out here?

CHELSEY

I guess I just wanted to look up at the stars.

LUC

Look it’s Uranus!

CHELSEY

That is sooo old. I’m not dumb. I know where you got that from, you Austin Powers freak!

LUC

So.

CHELSEY

I was just wondering if you had a date for the dance on Thursday?

LUC

Uh, umm. No. Wait are you saying.

CHELSEY nods

Yes, I guess. But don’t you hate me?

CHELSEY

I thought about your dream and I thought about you. Not understanding YOUR own dreams. And I thought you might need help and I know the person who can do this?

LUC

Who? You?

CHELSEY nods

LUC

Well okay. That’s if you can help.

CHELSEY leaves. LUC suddenly realizes something.

LUC

What is this mess that I got myself into?

Int. Next Day

Arts and Crafts - the mess hall is used for Arts and Crafts

CAMP COUNSELOR 2

If anyone has any hair coloring dye or anything to that nature please bring to the talent show. The counselors need to borrow it to do there skit.

GARY

Luc what are you writing.

LUC

I’m writing STACEY a letter

CHELSEY overhears conversation from another table

CHELSEY

STACEY?

GARY

What are you telling her?

LUC

I’m giving her signs so only we can understand.

CHELSEY

Signs?

GARY

Ohhh!

CHELSEY

Luc!

LUC

Yeah.

CHELSEY

Come here. Now!

LUC

Yes, master

Goes to CHELSEY

LUC

What did I do now?

CHELSEY

You tell me!

LUC

Does it deal with a certain person and me?

CHELSEY

Who do you have in mind? If you don’t know how come you and STACEY came in the mess hall together with you hair messed up last night at supper. And she was talking about that she got kissed by some guy with no name.

LUC

I can explain.

CHELSEY

I figured it was either Dillon or you. My guess is . . .

LUC

Dillon?

CHELSEY

No! You! Did you kiss STACEY?

LUC

Ummm. If you really want to know. I did . . .

DILLON comes in; he is out of breath.

DILLON

Come quick. You guys should see what happened to STACEY.

LUC

What happened?

CHELSEY

So did you?

LUC

Not now! STACEY is hurt.

CHELSEY

Did you?

LUC

Shut up girl!

CHELSEY

What!

LUC

You heard me.

LUC leaves

CHELSEY

What did I do?

DILLON

I dunno?

DILLON leaves

CHELSEY

Wait a minute? Never mind. I’ll ask Dillon later. He must know something about STACEY and Luc.

Ext. Day

Wall Climbing area

CAMP COUNSELOR 1

Luc, your not supposed to be here. Where are you supposed to be?

LUC

Arts and Crafts.

CAMP COUNSELOR 1

So why are you here?

LUC

I heard STACEY had an accident here.

CAMP COUNSELOR 1

STACEY didn’t have an accident.

LUC

Dillon, you told me she got hurt here.

DILLON

Well, I lied.

LUC

You what! Dillon I want to talk to you now!

They walk away from the wall climbing area

So what do you have to tell me anything?

DILLON

Yeah. It happened yesterday. I was going to the cabin to tell you supper was ready and I happened to see you kissing STACEY.

LUC

Oh my god! Does Chelsey know anything about this? Where’s STACEY?

DILLON

I don’t know probably at her cabin.

LUC

I got to see her.

LUC leaves

DILLON

Wait! What if Chelsey catches you with her?

LUC

(Offstage)

I don’t care!

Int. Day

CHELSEY and STACEY’s cabin

STACEY is cleaning her spot of the cabin. She doesn’t know that LUC comes in. He goes to STACEY and covers her eyes.

LUC

(In a different tone of voice)

Guess who.

STACEY

Ummm. Luc.

LUC

(In normal voice)

How did you know!

STACEY

You’ve been in my mind all day.

LUC

I have to tell you something very important and I have to hurry.

STACEY

What?

LUC

Dillon saw me kiss you last night and I’m afraid Chelsey might know. Have you talked to her?

STACEY

No. Not since supper last night. Why?

LUC

She thinks I kissed you. But also thinks Dillon might have also.

STACEY

Oh my god!

LUC

What!

STACEY

Its all my fault.

LUC

No its not

STACEY

Yes it is, I told her at supper that I kissed someone.

LUC

Did you give her a name?

STACEY

Nope.

LUC

Good, she doesn’t know.

(Pause)

Oh my god!

STACEY

What?

LUC

What if Chelsey talks to Dillon?

STACEY

She won’t. I won’t let her.

Ext. Day

At the Waterfront.

LUC is with STACEY

LUC

(Points)

Look there is Chelsey. I think we should seperate right now.

STACEY

Okay.

They go in separate directions STACEY goes into the water to go swimming, CHELSEY watches as STACEY goes into the water the she spots LUC going somewhere to listen to his music. Then CHELSEY spots DILLON.

CHELSEY

Dillon. I need to talk to you

DILLON goes over to CHELSEY

DILLON

What do you want, Chels.

CHELSEY

Don’t call me Chels. Anyway I want to know something.

DILLON

What?

CHELSEY

Will you tell the truth?

DILLON

Depends.

CHELSEY

Do you know anything about Luc and STACEY? I think something is going on between them.

DILLON

Maybe, maybe not.

CHELSEY

What do you mean ‘maybe, maybe not?’

DILLON

I do know something and I sorta don’t know if it is true or not.

CHELSEY

Does it deal with last night before supper?

DILLON

Ummm.

CHELSEY

Wait, you might be lying to me. Luc might have not done anything. You could have kissed STACEY, because you were ALSO late for supper. Luc wouldn’t do anything like that. Would he? But he is a very bad kisser.

DILLON

I don’t think so. And yes I did lie. I did kiss STACEY.

CHELSEY

I thought you did and I guess I was right.

DILLON

You were?

CHELSEY

Well okay. That’s all I need to know.

DILLON

Okay.

CHELSEY leaves. DILLON goes to LUC

DILLON

STACEY come here.

STACEY goes over to LUC and DILLON

STACEY

What?

DILLON

Chelsey talked to me.

LUC

What did she say?

DILLON

She wanted to know who kissed STACEY.

LUC

I’m a goner!

STACEY

What did you tell her?

DILLON

I told her that . . .

LUC

How could you?

DILLON

I kissed her.

LUC

I’m dead-meat!

(Wait)

You lied to her. How could you? You know she doesn’t like people who lie to her.

(Pause)

Well I don’t know if she does not like people lying to her. I don’t even like her.

DILLON

(Surprised)

You what?

LUC

I don’t like her. My real love is STACEY. I love you STACEY.

STACEY

I don’t know what to say.

LUC suddenly realizes that his dream is coming true.

LUC

Oh my god!

STACEY

What, what’s the matter

LUC

The dream I told Chelsey is coming true.

STACEY

What dream?

DILLON

Yeah what dream?

LUC

Well, in my dream I was sitting at the same table with Chelsey. And I wanted to say I love you to her and I just couldn’t so I turned around and started saying it to build up my confidence.

DILLON and STACEY are so intrigued with LUC’s dream. They want to hear more.

LUC

(cont.)

And all of a sudden I said it loud and STACEY heard me and I told her what I said then Chelsey heard that and got mad at me and left.

STACEY

So that means.

LUC

Yep, If she finds out I love you more than her; she’ll get really, really mad at me.

STACEY

What about me?

LUC

Probably you to.

CHELSEY

Should I know what you guys are talking about?

STACEY

Ummm, I dunno. Luc what are we talking about.

LUC

Uhh, I don’t really know. Do you know, Dillon?

DILLON

Yeah.

LUC COUGHS

DILLON

Uh I don’t. Well I guess I know nothing.

CHELSEY

Yeah right!

CHELSEY leaves

CHELSEY

(To herself)

I’ll find out. Just watch. I’ll find out what’s going on sooner or later.

Int. Next Day

After Breakfast

CHELSEY

I know something is going on with Luc and I’ll find out what.

LUC enters

LUC

Chelsey, I have something to tell you.

CHELSEY

What

LUC

Ummm, ummm.

CHELSEY

What do you want to tell me?

LUC

Ummm, nothing.

CHELSEY

There has to be something. What is it?

LUC

I guess you don’t really need to know.

CHELSEY

I will find out Luc. Just watch me.

LUC

Is that supposed to be a threat?

CHELSEY

No! I’m gonna keep my eye on you Luc. Just try to get close to STACEY, just try.

LUC

(Sarcastically)

Oh, I’m scared

CHELSEY

Well, you better be.

LUC

Well I’m not.

CHELSEY wants to hit LUC but she just can’t. CHELSEY gets so frustrated that all she can do is walk away.

Ext. Day

Free Time

LUC is at his cabin and STACEY is sitting on his bed thinking of something to do. LUC is pacing back and forth.

LUC

I’m getting scared. What if Chelsey does find out? What will I do?

STACEY

I don’t know. Just make sure she doesn’t ask you to the dance tomorrow.

LUC

She did. She asked me two days ago. Now what am I gonna do?

STACEY

I’m not sure.

LUC

Just to add to this problem; Chelsey told me this morning that she was going to watch my every move.

STACEY gets a brilliant idea.

STACEY

Tell her that you can’t go to the dance with her.

LUC

And how will I do that?

STACEY

I haven’t thought about that.

LUC

How about I don’t go to the dance.

STACEY

If you don’t go, then I won’t go.

LUC

Nope, that won’t work. She’ll expect something. She’ll go and look for us if we aren’t at the dance.

STACEY

Ohh.

LUC

And if she comes looking for us, there will be hell to pay.

STACEY

Who cares if she’ll come looking for us? We are in love and she can’t stop that.

LUC

Well I guess you are right.

STACEY gives LUC a kiss. STACEY leaves with a smile.

LUC

I hope this plan works. Wait a minute what plan, we don’t have a plan. I’ll tell Chelsey if I like it or not.

Int. Day

Lunch

LUC gets up from his table. EVERYONE looks at him while he goes to CHELSEY and STACEY’s table. He sits near CHELSEY. STACEY doesn’t care what is happening. She knows what is going on.

CHELSEY

What are you doing?

LUC

I’m just wanted to sit with my favorite star.

CHELSEY

Cut the sweet talk and tell me why you’re over here.

LUC

You want to know.

CHELSEY

Yes tell me

CHELSEY grins for that she thinks LUC is going to tell her the truth.

LUC

Are you sure?

CHELSEY

Go ahead tell the whole camp why don’t you.

LUC

Okay I will, if it will make you happy.

LUC gets up and gets on an empty table says

LUC

Everyone I have something to say. First of all we should thank Chelsey for letting me tell you all.

DILLON

What’s the deal we’re trying to eat lunch?

LUC

Dillon don’t worry. I am going to tell the truth for once.

LUC turns to CHELSEY

LUC

Chelsey from the deepest part of my heart. I have found the one true love and it is . . .

CHELSEY

Yes and.

LUC

You are not it and I’m am not going to the dance with you tomorrow. I am going with STACEY if you like it or not. I don’t care what you think of me and STACEY. We were made for each other. For once I can finally say I love you.

LUC gets down off the table. And goes to STACEY. STACEY stands up.

LUC

I love you STACEY.

STACEY

I love you to, Luc.

LUC

(to CHELSEY)

I figured out my dream by myself and it came true. I don’t need you. You aren’t important to be with me. I don’t care what you think of me. Well think of this you no-good son of a bitch. I don’t need you. When you become ill. I won’t be by your side; you can count on that. I will not let anyone near you. You don’t deserve to be well. I am going to let you rot in hell.

EVERYONE cheers. CHELSEY is so scared so does not know what to do. She runs out of the mess hall. LUC gives STACEY a great big kiss.

STACEY

I am proud of you Luc. You stood up for yourself. And she didn’t know what was coming.

LUC and STACEY sit down and finish eating lunch. EVERYONE does the same.

INT. Night

LUC’s cabin

DILLON

That was unbelievable. I couldn’t believe you did that to Chelsey. She didn’t know what hit her.

MARK

It hit her hard.

LUC

Wow, she won’t bother me anymore.

MARK

So what was your dream about anyway.

LUC

It’s a long story. I’m tired.

(Yawns)

It’s been a big day. I’m going to sleep. Goodnight.

DILLON

Goodnight.

MARK

Goodnight

JOE and TRAY

Goodnight, Luc.

Ext. Day

After breakfast

STACEY goes up to LUC. CHELSEY’s cabin is cleaning up the mess hall.

STACEY

Luc.

LUC

Yeah.

STACEY

Well tonight is the dance.

LUC

Yeah and.

STACEY

There is a small talent show after lunch. And I was just wondering if you would like to be in it with me.

LUC

Oh, no. I can’t act. I don’t even have any talents.

STACEY

If you don’t that’s all right.

LUC

Well I guess, if it makes you happy. But what are we going to do.

STACEY

I know I have some CD’s in my bag. We can pick something to sing.

LUC

Sing?

LUC and STACEY leave. CHELSEY overheard the conversation.

CHELSEY

Oh the talent show, eh. I’ll show Luc. He’ll be so humiliated that he won’t be going to the dance this evening.

Ext. Day

At waterfront.

LUC is swimming and DILLON is in a canoe. While STACEY and the girls are sun tanning.

CAMP COUNSELOR 2

(Voice over)

Everyone who is going to be in the talent show this afternoon. Now is the time to practice. You can practice in the mess hall or in your cabin. Good luck!

LUC comes out of the water. He dries off and leaves. STACEY follows. OTHER KIDS go to their cabin; the rest of the kids just stay.

Ext. Day

Behind CHELSEY and STACEY’s cabin

CHELSEY is grinning.

CHELSEY

(Laughing)

They can’t be in the talent show now.

CHELSEY holds up STACEY’s CDs

Int. Day

STACEY and CHELSEY’s cabin.

STACEY and LUC come in and go to her bunk. STACEY pulls out a bag. She puts the bag on her bunk. She searches through it.

LUC

So is there any special song you had in mind.

STACEY is still looking

STACEY

Yeah, I thought we could sing a love song.

LUC

A love song. I can handle that. It is slow.

STACEY is getting very mad because she can’t find that certain CD

STACEY

It’s gone. My CD’s are gone. Where could they ever be? I remember I was listening to them last night.

LUC

I think I know who stole them.

STACEY

Who?

LUC

Guess.

STACEY

Chelsey?

LUC

Yep. She probably is going to ruin the show. And she might not want me with you.

STACEY

Now what are we going to do? I don’t have any CD’s.

LUC

We are going to be in it if she likes it or not.

STACEY

But I don’t have my CD’s

LUC

Let’s go to my cabin. I have an idea.

LUC and STACEY leave.

Ext. Day

Behind CHELSEY and STACEY’s cabin

CHELSEY isn’t happy anymore.

CHELSEY

Dang. I should have known Luc also had CDs. Now what do I do? The only thing I can do is be in the talent show also.

Int. Day.

Talent Show

One KID is just finishing up his act. LUC and STACEY are getting very nervous. They are next.

CAMP COUNSELOR 3

That was a nice act. I guess. Next will be Luc and Stacey singing a song from the musical “Pippin”. Lets give a big round of applause for Luc and STACEY singing “ A Love Song”

EVERYONE applauds, except for CHELSEY. She is mad. LUC and STACEY go up on stage and sit on the floor and sing. After the song EVERYONE claps, hoot, etc. Except CHELSEY. She is very mad. The CAMP COUNSELOR gets up.

CAMP COUNSELOR 2

Wow, that was nice. Congratulations Luc and Stacey. You did a great job.

LUC and STACEY go back to their seat.

CAMP COUNSELOR 3

Lastly, we have Chelsey performing one of Adam Sandler’s song called “Lunch Lady Land”

EVERYONE

Boooooo, Get off the stage, you don’t deserve to perform, etc.

CHELSEY

Shut up.

As the song begins CHELSEY puts on a Lunch Lady Outfit. She doesn’t know the words so she lip sync’s the song. She is bad at it. STACEY and LUC are talking in the back row. They aren’t paying any attention. The song finishes. CHELSEY is happy. She looks to the back row and sees LUC and STACEY laughing and talking to each other. CHELSEY is now very mad. She leaves the stage.

CAMP COUNSELOR 3

We will now take a fifteen-minute break, so the judges can decide who the winner is.

EVERYONE goes to the snack store and gets something to eat. Some kids aren’t hungry yet. STACEY and LUC stay where they are.

STACEY

You were good singing.

LUC

No I wasn’t, I can’t sing. I did it for you.

STACEY

Well you were still good

JOE and SARAH are talking. They are sitting on the edge of the stage with some snacks.

JOE

Who do you think will win?

SARAH

For one thing I know is that Chelsey sucked.

JOE

(Laughing)

That is true.

CHELSEY is now getting her food. She gets a soda and a candy bar.

CAMP COUNSELOR 2

Three minutes left. So hurry up.

DILLON goes to CHELSEY

DILLON

You are like a skunk. You both stink

DILLON laughs and goes away.

CHELSEY

I really hate this camp.

CHELSEY

Noooooooooooo!

CHELSEY is not enjoying the week here; you can see it in her face. She gets a brilliant idea.

CHELSEY

That didn’t work. Just wait till the dance this evening. Just wait.

Int. Day

CHELSEY and STACEY’s cabin

STACEY is getting ready for the dance this evening. CHELSEY puts her hand in her bag and pulls out a nice dress. CHELSEY’s dress is wrinkly. She is mad. STACEY is puts her clothes in another bag with her shower stuff.

STACEY

I’m going to the showers if you need me, come and get me.

CHELSEY

(With a grin)

Okay.

When STACEY leaves. CHELSEY searches through her bag for a green hair color spray can that is cleverly disguised as hair spray. CHELSEY puts they hair spray into her bag. Then leaves.

Int. Day

Showers

Can hear the sounds of WATER, some girls are talking about who is cute and whom they are taking to the dance. CHELSEY comes in. She spots STACEY’s bag. CHELSEY takes STACEY’s hair spray and replaces it with the green hair color.

Int. Day

LUC’s cabin

LUC is fixing his hair and pulling out some new clothes for the dance. DILLON and JOE are playing cards. They are already dressed for the dance. DILLON has a hat on.

JOE

I win. Come on pay up.

DILLON

Do I have to?

JOE

Yes you do.

DILLON

But it’s for the dance.

JOE

I don’t care. Show me the money.

DILLON takes off his hat and gives JOE five bucks.

LUC

You know your not suppose to gamble.

DILLON and JOE

So.

A KNOCK on the door is heard.

JOE

(Smiling)

Come in!

SARAH comes in. She is out of breath.

SARAH

Luc, I need to talk to you alone. It is important.

LUC

Could it wait? I’m getting ready.

SARAH

No now!

LUC

What is it?

SARAH

I can’t tell you.

LUC

Why?

SARAH

They have to leave.

JOE

Do we have to?

DILLON

Yeah do we?

SARAH

Yes. I have to talk to Luc alone.

DILLON

Oh all right. Come on Joe.

DILLON and JOE leave. It seems that DILLON forgot his hat.

LUC

So what do you need to tell me?

LAUGHTER is heard from outside the cabin.

LUC

Why are they laughing?

SARAH

I can’t tell you.

LUC

What is going on? If you can’t tell me who can?

SARAH

It is best if I don’t tell you but just show you.

LUC

Show me what? Does it deal with Stacey?

SARAH nods

Where is she? Is she hurt? What happened?

SARAH

She is here but I don’t think you want to see her right now.

LUC

What happened? Where is she?

SARAH

She is outside the cabin. I don’t think

LUC goes to the door and looks out. He spots STACEY. He can’t believe what has happened.

LUC

You have green hair!

STACEY

(Offstage)

I don’t know what happened.

STACEY comes into the cabin.

LUC

Who did this to you?

STACEY

I don’t know. I was taking my shower.

SARAH

It could have been Chelsey.

LUC finally realizes what has happened.

LUC

Chelsey. She did this to you. She doesn’t want us to be together.

STACEY

What am I gonna do? I can’t go to the dance looking like this.

SARAH

I know! STACEY do you mind not wearing dressy clothes. But wear nice everyday clothes

STACEY

You mean dress like a tomboy.

SARAH

Yeah.

LUC

It might just work. DILLON forgot his hat. You can wear his hat.

LUC picks up the hat and SARAH fixes STACEY’s hair so it won’t show under the hat. SARAH takes the hat from LUC and puts it on backwards on STACEY.

STACEY

Okay I guess.

SARAH and STACEY leave.

LUC

I hope this works.

Ext. Night

On the way to the mess hall

DILLON and SUSIE are walking together. SARAH and JOE follow.

SARAH

Did you hear what Chelsey did to Stacey?

JOE

Yeah I heard that Chelsey turned Stacey’s hair green.

DILLON

Oh my god, what is Stacey going to do.

SARAH

She had to change her whole wardrobe. And she’s using your hat.

DILLON

My hat!

SUSIE

So what’s wrong?

DILLON

My money is in that hat.

Int. Night

The mess hall

The dance has begun. There are campers dancing. Some campers are sitting. And a very few are eating snacks. CHELSEY is very happy.

CHELSEY

I guess Stacey won’t be coming.

DILLON, JOE, SARAH, and SUSIE come in. SARAH and SUSIE go to the dance floor. They go to JANET and KELLY and dance with them. JOE goes and sits down for the song. DILLON goes to the snack bar and gets a soda.

KELLY

Where’s Stacey?

SARAH

She’s with LUC. He is putting some finishing touches on her outfit.

LUC comes in. CHELSEY goes to LUC.

CHELSEY

Where’s your girlfriend?

LUC

Why do you want to know?

CHELSEY

Just because.

LUC

She went to take off her make-up.

CHELSEY

So she isn’t coming, eh.

LUC

Oh, yeah she is coming.

LUC goes to the snack bar. CHELSEY’s grin turns to a frown.

SARAH

There’s LUC. I’m going to go and talk to him.

SARAH goes to LUC

Do you think this will work?

LUC

I hope so.

SARAH

Just hope she doesn’t take off the cap.

STACEY comes in. She is dressed as a tomboy. DILLON’s hat is backward. You can see a little bit of green hair but not a lot. EVERYONE looks at her. LUC goes to her.

LUC

Don’t worry.

STACEY

Why is everyone looking at me?

LUC

They don’t understand why you are dressed like that. If they ask, tell them . . . tell them . . .

CHELSEY walks by, she is smiling.

CHELSEY

Just tell them you have green hair.

STACEY

You rat.

CHELSEY

I wouldn’t call myself a rat. Maybe a snake, but not a rat.

STACEY

Why did you do this?

CHELSEY

I didn’t do anything. You must have picked the wrong hair spray

CHELSEY takes STACEY’s hair spray out of her back pocket and gives it to STACEY.

STACEY

You ought to be stuffed with nails.

LUC is now trying to hold STACEY back.

CHELSEY

Well I don’t have green hair.

STACEY is outraged. She wants to get CHELSEY, but she can’t because LUC is holding her back.

LUC

You should pick on someone your own size.

CHELSEY

Like you.

CHELSEY gives LUC a blow to the stomach. STACEY is scared she goes to SARAH.

CHELSEY

Yeah just go to Sarah I don’t care. Lover boy can’t help you now.

LUC comes from behind and CHELSEY turns around and punches LUC in the face.

LUC

Why are you doing this?

CHELSEY

Figure it out.

LUC

Figure what out? I didn’t do anything to you.

CHELSEY

Oh yeah.

LUC gets up and tries to hit CHELSEY. CHELSEY hits him hard; he flies against a wall.

CHELSEY

Think about it.

DILLON, SARAH, and STACEY go to LUC

DILLON

Don’t you remember the play you were in? Does “Children of Eden” ring a bell?

LUC

Children of what.

DILLON

Children of Eden. Remember the song.

SARAH

Yeah, remember the song.

STACEY

What song?

SARAH

Well in Children of Eden, there was a song that said “if you love someone deeply, that you won’t be able to forget about them.”

STACEY

So you’re saying, Chelsey still loves Luc.

DILLON

Yes!

SARAH

Yeah, and she want’s him all to herself.

STACEY

That’s why she turned my hair green.

LUC

And stole your CDs.

SARAH

Stacey, she hates you.

LUC

I can’t let her come between us. I just won’t let it.

LUC gets up and starts looking for CHELSEY. He makes sure she doesn’t see him. He goes up to her and taps her on her shoulder. She turns around.

LUC

Hi.

LUC punches CHELSEY. EVERYONE gets away from them.

LUC

Why are you doing this to us?

CHELSEY

I don’t like Little Miss Green Hair.

STACEY hears this she comes running and CHELSEY pushes her away.

LUC

Stacey!

LUC punches CHELSEY again. LUC goes to STACEY.

LUC

Are you all right? I won’t let her do that to you.

STACEY

Yeah I’m all right.

LUC gets up and goes over to the snack bar. He gets a cola. He shakes the cola. He than goes to CHELSEY.

LUC

I’m sorry here have a soda. It’s on me.

CHELSEY

Thanks.

LUC gives CHELSEY the soda. She accepts it. She opens it, and squirts herself. CHELSEY is now mad.

CHELSEY

You may have won this time Luc! But wait. Just wait.

CHELSEY gets up and runs out of the mess hall. EVERYONE laughs. EVERYONE starts to dance again.

STACEY

When will she ever learn?

LUC

I don’t know. Do you want to dance?

STACEY

Sure.

LUC and STACEY go to the dance floor and slow dance.

Int. Night

LUC’s cabin

LUC is getting ready to go to sleep. The other boys can’t stop talking about what had happen at the dance.

DILLON

I can’t believe Chelsey has not gotten the idea that you have a girlfriend.

LUC

What is her problem?

JOE

Whatever it is, someone has got to teach her that she can’t have Luc. She lost her chance.

LUC

And who is that going to be.

TRAY

Luc. Think about it. You have to teach her.

LUC

I can’t do that. I don’t know what to do. How am I going to teach her?

JOE

You got to think she has gotten you into this mess, you can get out of it . . . somehow.

LUC

But how?

JOE

Think. You only have a couple days left. You can do it.

DILLON

Yeah. I know you can.

TRAY

You are the one.

LUC

All right, I’ll do it. There’s only one thing though.

DILLON

What?

LUC

Try to get me out of this mess.

ALL of the boys except LUC get discouraged. At they just go to sleep.

LUC

What!

Int. Night

STACEY and CHELSEY’s cabin.

STACEY is sleeping, CHELSEY is awake she is sitting on her bed. CHELSEY is thinking of a way to get back at LUC. She gets a brilliant idea. She goes to her bag. Opens it up. She goes to STACEY’s bag, takes out some foreign object. It is too dark to see what it is. CHELSEY takes this object, puts it in her bag. She puts the bag under the bed. She grabs her flashlight and leaves the cabin.

Int. Night

LUC’s cabin

We see a light coming to the door of the cabin. All the boys are sleeping. The door opens. CHELSEY comes in. She looks around. She spots LUC. She goes to his bunk. CHELSEY very carefully pulls LUC’s bag out from under his bunk. She opens it and takes out some type of clothing. We can’t see what it is. It is too dark. CHELSEY pushes the bag back under the bed. She takes something out of her back pocket. We hear a SPRAYING noise. CHELSEY leaves. When she leaves we hear an EVIL LAUGH.

Ext. Night

In front of CHELSEY and STACEY’s cabin

CHELSEY is arriving at the cabin.

CHELSEY

They won’t know what hit them.

CHELSEY LAUGHS, she walks into the cabin.

FADE OUT

FADE IN

Ext. Day

Outside of the cabins.

Some KIDS are leaving the cabins. We hear two different types of SCREAMS. One type is a girl’s voice. The other a guy’s voice.

Int. Day

LUC”S cabin

We see DILLON and JOE. They are gambling as usual.

DILLON

Luc it is not that bad.

LUC

(Off stage)

Yeah right.

JOE

She has gone too far.

LUC

(Off stage)

Too far? This is beyond far.

LUC comes out of hiding. His hair is purple. It seems that CHELSEY did it again.

LUC

Now what am I going to do?

Int. Day

CHELSEY and STACEY’s cabin.

STACEY is hiding like LUC was. SARAH is combing her hair. BRIDGET is fixing her bed.

STACEY

(Off stage)

Why? Why does she have to hate me?

SARAH

It is not that bad.

STACEY

(Off stage)

Yeah right. Not bad.

STACEY’s hair has another color in her hair. It seems that it is orange. Another of CHELSEY’s doings.

BRIDGET

Jeez, this has gone too far. Someone has to teach her a lesson.

STACEY

Who?

BRIDGET

Who started this mess?

STACEY

Chelsey?

BRIDGET

Well yeah, but who made it start.

STACEY

Luc.

BRIDGET

So the only one to end what has happened is Luc.

STACEY

Yeah I guess you are right. I’ll go tell him.

STACEY starts to leave

SARAH

Stacey.

STACEY

Yeah.

SARAH

The hat.

STACEY

Oh yeah.

STACEY gets the hat puts it on. Then leaves.

SARAH

Do you think Luc can get this task done?

BRIDGET

I hope.

Int. Day

LUC’s cabin

LUC is trying to fix his hair so no one will notice. STACEY comes in.

STACEY

Oh my god. What the heck happened to you?

LUC

You can notice.

STACEY

Yes. You need a hat.

LUC

Can I have Dillon’s hat?

STACEY

No! I need it.

LUC

Everyone knows you have green hair.

STACEY

And orange!

LUC

That is absurd.

STACEY takes off the hat. LUC is shocked.

LUC

Chelsey?

STACEY

Yeah. Let me guess Chelsey did that also.

LUC

Yeah.

STACEY

You need to teach Chelsey that she can’t have you.

LUC

That is what I was going to do. The guys want me to.

STACEY

So doesn’t my cabin. Well Chelsey doesn’t know about this.

LUC

So what am I going to do to teach her a lesson.

STACEY

I’m not sure.

DILLON comes running in.

DILLON

Luc, Stacey come quick.

LUC

What?

DILLON

Just come.

DILLON leaves

LUC

I wonder what Chelsey did this time.

STACEY

Your guess is good as mine.

LUC takes a hat out of his bag. He puts it on. THEY leave.

Ext. Day

At the flagpole

There is a group of kids at the flagpole. They seem to be in a semi-circle. It looks as if they are done saying the pledge. They are probably waiting to be brought into the mess hall.

SARAH

Why?

BRIDGET

She’s gone too far.

SUSIE

Yeah, too far!

DILLON comes in to the semi-circle.

DILLON

They are coming.

LUC and STACEY enter. They still don’t know what is going on.

LUC

What?

DILLON

Look!

DILLON points upward. LUC and STACEY look up. LUC is shocked.

LUC

What! She has gone way too far. Someone needs to teach her a lesson. And I’m the one to do it.

LUC goes to the flagpole. He brings whatever is on the end of the string down. We see that it is a pair of his boxers. Some of the girls are giggling.

DILLON

Now what?

LUC

Where is she?

EVERYONE looks at each other. They are confused.

PRESTON

No one has seen her since the dance.

LUC

If no one has seen her. Then how did she ruin mine and STACEY’s hair? Someone must know where she is.

A BELL is heard. Everyone goes into the mess hall.

Ext. Day

After breakfast

LUC and STACEY are the last to exit the mess hall.

LUC

She’s around. I just know it.

STACEY

How do you know?

All of a sudden an arrow comes flying by. It has a note attached to it. It hits the deck post right near LUC.

LUC

That’s how!

STACEY

What does the note say?

LUC

I don’t know. Let me check.

LUC pulls the arrow out of the post and gives it to STACEY. He takes the note and tries to read it.

LUC

I can’t read it.

STACEY

Why?

LUC

It’s in code.

STACEY

Let me see it. I’m good at figuring out codes.

LUC gives STACEY the note.

STACEY

Oh I can’t decipher it. I’ve never seen this type of code before.

LUC

Let me see it. I will try to get someone to figure it out.

STACEY gives LUC the note back.

Int. Day

A cabin

PRESTON is reading at his bunk. LUC comes in.

LUC

Can you help me?

PRESTON

What do you need?

LUC

Can you decipher this?

LUC gives him the note.

PRESTON

Oh, my god. I know this type of code! Get my some paper and a pencil.

LUC goes to the shelf and gets some paper and a pencil. He brings it to PRESTON.

LUC

What does it say?

PRESTON

It says that you won’t win the battle.

LUC

Battle?

PRESTON

Yeah the war between you and Chelsey.

LUC

Does it say anything else.

PRESTON

Yes it says that you can’t do anything to teach her the lesson.

LUC

How did she find out about the lesson I’m going to teach her?

PRESTON

I can’t help you there.

PRESTON hands LUC back the note.

LUC

Thanks.

PRESTON

Don’t mention it.

LUC leaves. PRESTON goes to the door to make sure LUC is gone. PRESTON then goes to the back door of the cabin and opens it.

PRESTON

You can come in now. He’s gone!

CHELSEY enters.

PRESTON

He bought it.

CHELSEY

He is so stupid. No one could ever figure out that dumb note.

PRESTON

Yeah it was just scribbles.

CHELSEY

I thought it was a nice touch.

PRESTON

What are you gonna do now.

CHELSEY

I’m going to let LUC to teach me that lesson of his.

PRESTON

Cool.

Int. Night

CHELSEY and STACEY’s cabin.

CHELSEY is getting ready for bed. The other girls are at the bon fire. LUC comes in.

CHELSEY

Luc, why are you here?

LUC

You know why.

CHELSEY

No why.

LUC

You have gone too far. You need to be taught that I don’t like you. There is nothing between us. I love Stacey.

CHELSEY

So your point is.

LUC

I know you want me all to your self. I was like that a couple years ago. I know that it is hard to give up someone or something you love deeply. Do you understand what I am trying to say?

CHELSEY

No.

LUC

I’m trying to say that you are trying to keep me for yourself. You love me truly. But I don’t care. I am in love with Stacey. Not you.

CHELSEY

I know that. But . . .

LUC

But what?

CHELSEY

But . . .

LUC

I don’t care. I’m not going to repeat myself! Bye!

LUC leaves. CHELSEY realizes what LUC has said.

CHELSEY

Oh, my god. It must be true. I do want him to myself. I do love him. Is there something wrong?

CHELSEY goes to bed.

Ext. Day

Outside LUC’S cabin

LUC and STACEY are sitting on the steps. DILLON and SUSIE are sitting on the ground together. JOE and SARAH are sitting next to them. OTHERS are sitting to.

DILLON

So how did it go last night.

LUC

I think she changes.

JOE

What did you do?

LUC

I talked, she didn’t care.

SUSIE

Just pray that she understood.

A ball comes over to the group. DILLON picks it up and throws it back.

SARAH

Just think this is our last day her. Tomorrow we go home.

STACEY

That’s to bad.

LUC

Don’t worry Stacey you only live a few blocks from me.

STACEY

I know, but what about the others I’ll miss them.

DILLON

Don’t cry now. Wait till tomorrow.

STACEY

I wish there was another week.

CHELSEY comes up to them. She has two bags. One has some STACEY’s CDs in it the other has a whole bunch of notes. Both bags have some special hair care stuff in it.

DILLON

What do you want?

LUC

Let her speak.

CHELSEY

I understand completely what you told me last night. I know I was a total jerk. Can you forgive me?

STACEY

Maybe.

CHELSEY

Oh by the way these are for you.

CHELSEY hands STACEY the bag with the CDs in it. And then hands LUC the other bag. THEY look in it.

I won’t bother you any more. Bye.

CHELSEY leaves.

STACEY

My CD’s. And oh, what’s this hair color solution.

LUC

Oh my god, The notes she was supposed to give me and hair color solution too.

STACEY

I was afraid to go home with my hair green and orange.

LUC

Me to!

STACEY

I’m going to wash this out right now!

LUC

I will later. I kind of like this right now.

STACEY leaves. She is happy.

DILLON

What did you say to Chelsey to make her change like that?

LUC

I don’t know.

Int. Day

Arts and Crafts

EVERYONE is there. They all are making a sign to keep at camp.

CAMP COUNSELOR 5

STACEY

No you have to wait till tomorrow.

LUC

STACEY

Something wonderful.

Int. Night

EVERYONE is sitting with their new friends. STACEY, LUC, and the gang are sitting together. There is an empty space at the table.

DILLON

Why is there an empty seat?

JOE

Everyone is here.

LUC

Not every one.

CHELSEY comes over.

CHELSEY

Is anyone sitting here?

LUC

It is saved . . .

CHELSEY

That’s okay I’ll find somewhere else to sit.

LUC

. . . for you.

CHELSEY

You mean that this is for me. Thank you.

DILLON

What?

LUC

Dillon shut up.

CHELSEY

I am very sorry for what I have done to you and Stacey. Can you ever forgive me?

LUC

Yes. I, we can forgive you.

DILLON

I don’t.

SARAH

Shut up.

CHELSEY

I’m sorry for ruining your guy’s hair. I see that it is back to normal.
