Dotted line supervision for the IVP Director of IT.Status:Full-time / ExemptLocation:National Service Center, Madison, WI, or home officeTo advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will lead the Information Technology Services department, providing vision and strategic leadership to leverage the effective use of enterprise architecture and technology across the Fellowship. The role will establish strategic partnerships with senior leaders across the Fellowship to deliver and maintain technology resources and services that accelerate the ministry of InterVarsity. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESPersonal: Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God’s Word, God’s people of every ethnicity and culture, and God’s purposes in the worldBe a lifelong learner who prizes the discipleship of the mind; particularly staying current on issues of strategy, business practices within ministry, technology and enterprise architecture.Leadership:Articulate broadly to the fellowship InterVarsity’s vision for accelerating mission through technology, excellent business systems, customer service and collaboration between Finance and Administration and the rest of the movement.Provide vision, strategy and guidance for IT Services team to ensure the culture of the team represents the vision set.In partnership with the CFO, provide vision and strategic leadership on the effective utilization of technology resources for the whole movement as needed. As a member of the NLT, contribute to InterVarsity’s goals of diversity and reconciliation, strategically ensuring those goals are met within the IT Services team.As a member of the Finance and Administration Leadership Team, provide vision, strategic leadership, planning, and decision making for Finance and AdministrationDevelop and implement strategies and long-range plans with measurable objectives for IT Services that align with InterVarsity’s Doctrinal Basis, Purpose Statement Core Commitments, national initiatives (i.e. 2030 Calling) and Finance and Administration strategies.Responsible for delivering and maintaining technology resources and services to the Fellowship, including: implementation of new technologies, data governance in partnership with the Director, Ministry Intelligence, security services and framework, database administration and warehousing, integration services, software development delivery services, IT helpdesk services, network services, and compliance and licensing services.Serve as the InterVarsity Security Officer and provide strategic leadership for all technology-related security. Partner with the Director, Ministry Intelligence on data governance decisions. Develop service delivery framework and service level agreements for technology support. Oversee the utilization of external vendors and consultants to implement technologies and augment IT Services staffingModel good stewardship of organizational resources (e.g., people, time, money, systems, and materials).Provide indirect supervision and mentoring to other positions with significant technology responsibilities.Strategically challenge the status quo and look for opportunities to simplify and enhance the resources and services provided by the IT Services team and the broader Finance and Administration team.Ensure that InterVarsity is compliant with all IT related contracts and licensing agreementsCollaboration:Serve the entire movement with wisdom and the application of leadership gifts in the role of Vice President.As a member of the National Leadership Team (NLT), lead culture change around Digital Transformation initiatives and the utilization of technology to accelerate ministry on campus through strategic partnerships, excellent customer service and proactive value adding activities.As an NSC VP, work alongside other VPs and EVPs in the NSC to care well for the NSC staff and steward NSC culture.Build particularly strong working relationships with PMO and other Finance and Administration leaders in order to ensure an integrated approach to how Finance and Admin delivers value added service and strategic counsel to the Fellowship.In partnership with legal, support the contractual purchase of technology throughout the movement.Supervision:Recruit, hire, train, develop, supervise and retain qualified IT Services staff, creating opportunities for advancement.Build an effective IT Services Leadership team by facilitating strong collaboration, championing understanding of organizational interdependencies, and fostering strategic decision making throughout the anize structures, roles, processes, and accountability loops to optimize resources and achieve goals, expecting direct reports to focus on organizational efficiencies and effectiveness.Cast vision for and provide guidance to the entire IT Services team around their goals and strategies for their assigned functions.Resolve disputes via proactive initiatives, trouble-shooting and mediation.Lead spiritual formation practices and formalized professional development for IT Services team.Administration:Refine and implement an effective assessment system for IT Services.Develop and manage annual budgets for programs and efforts in accordance with InterVarsity policies and procedures.Recommend new or revised systems, methods, programs, and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.Serve as Risk Manager for the IT Services department and other major Technology-based decisions.Become knowledgeable of and in coordination with Legal and Risk Management departments, apply appropriate laws, regulations and policies (board and administrative) to situations that expose the Fellowship to risk (legal, financial, ministry, morale or reputational) and employ risk management strategies to minimize unacceptable levels of risk, while managing the tension between ministry risk and legal and financial risk.Ensure compliance with all InterVarsity policies and procedures.Carry out management responsibilities as defined by the EVP, CFO.Fund Development and Public RelationsDevelop a team of prayer and financial support.Raise an agreed-upon amount of financial support.Partner with CFO and Advancement to raise gifts for broad capacity building initiatives within Finance and Administration, specifically focused on technology-based municate regularly with IT Services staff concerning ministry partnership development responsibilities.Accept appropriate speaking engagements, both internal and external.Work Environment/Physical Requirements:A designated office space is assigned at the National Service Center, or a home officeRequired travel includes but is not limited to: Finance and Admin Leadership Team Meetings, major donor appointments, InterVarsity-sponsored training sessions, other ELT and NLT line meetings, peer group meetings and conferences.Regularly required to communicate with others, and routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, etc.QUALIFICATIONSAnnually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Faith. Abide by InterVarsity’s Code of Conduct.Thorough knowledge of or the ability to learn: the purpose, vision, ministries and policies of InterVarsity.Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s or equivalent preferred.A significant combination of information technology knowledge, skills, and experience is required to successfully perform the responsibilities of this role.??A typical way of gaining these qualifications would be: a Bachelor's degree, an advanced degree in information technology, computer science, or business administration, a minimum of 10 years of related experience, including at least five years of senior management experience (or equivalent).Significant theological acuity and spiritual maturity.Demonstrated experience as a senior leader in managing and implementing successful, comprehensive programs to achieve goals.Demonstrated desire to understand current and future technology trends and apply learning in equipping and accelerating ministry.Ability to formulate and cast a vision around technology in a manner that inspires and rallies individuals and teams to achieve the mission and vision.Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, and delegation.Passion and experience in coaching and leading is required; passion and experience in coaching and leading women and ethnic minority persons is strongly preferred.Strong analytical and strategic skills with a high capacity for managing complexity.Strong financial acumen.
