TIPS FROM FORMER 304 STUDENT WHO ACED THE CLASS

TIPS FROM FORMER 304 STUDENT WHO ACED THE CLASS

- GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!! (write down your questions in advance)

- Come prepared to review days with questions too

- Listen to the MP4's and take notes... helps to fill in any gaps from class

- Write down AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE during class... write down what he's saying in addition to what he's writing

- Start studying at least a week ahead of time

- A great way to study is to explain the material to someone else... usually, if you can do this, it means you truly understand it

- Re-do homework and practice exams WITHOUT REFERENCING NOTES THE FIRST TIME THROUGH

Do's

-Attend class (Obviously)

-Treat homeworks like exams and try to use notes as little as possible, mostly to check your responses then change anything if necessary

-Review notes regularly

-Practice Exams, Practice Exams, Practice Exams! Can't stress that enough

-Take regularly breaks when studying, far too easy to burn out on the material.

Don'ts:

-Cram, it will not work I promise

-Copy homework, not just because you're asking for a zero if caught, but you are learning absolutely nothing and not applying your knowledge of the material. It will bite hard later on.

Things that help the most:

Being on time to class

Ask questions about everything you don't understand

Spend time in the office hours and be a good listener

Talk to many individuals in your class and form study groups

Get your answers reviewed as many times as possible

DO PRACTICE TESTS as many times as possible

Space out your studying over 1-2 weeks.

Do

- Do the practice problems multiple times to the point where you can explain the answer correctly to others

- Go to office hours if you have any questions or need help

- Go to every class

- Watch the videos on the website if you need to review concepts

Don’t

- Don’t skip class

- Don’t put off studying for exams until the weekend before

DO

* Keep up with pace of class: take some time every week to review concepts

* Form study groups: review together and ask questions to reinforce concepts

* Stay organized: keep track of articles discussed in class

* Exam prep: breakdown information into small chunks instead of all at once

* Practice intuition questions: get feedback from professor/TA to see if you’re understanding the concepts

DON’T

* Procrastinate till exam time: you can’t learn everything in a short period of time

* Skip class: exam material comes directly from class

* Slack off

DO

• Start watching the MP4’s ASAP

• Take as many notes as possible, they will help you to connect ideas easier

• Go to office hours, not only to the additional ones since they can get really crowded

• Study with a small group of people who are committed to study and help

• Make sure you can answer every single question of the practice exams which should start reviewing ASAP

• Start studying one or two weeks before exams, in this way, you will be able to ask any questions that you have

• Join PSUEA, many of the members are former Chud’s students who perform really well and are really qualified to help you

• Read posted articles and get ready to be asked anything and everything about these. By doing this you can keep updated with the rest of the world, which is not only helpful for the class but for other classes and potentially job interviews

DON’T

• Procrastinate

• Miss class. Attendance is a must if you want to outperform in this class

• Get distracted by your tech devices. You should put all those away and have all your senses focus on the class. Missing one minute can make a difference

• Talk in class. Save your conversations for later, you can talk with your friends about your weekend during lunch or your breaks, but you can’t listen to the same class twice

- Read the articles especially those mentioned in class. For the second exam, Chud’s online lectures and again the articles are really important.

- Practice a lot. Solve old exams, for this makes you ready to solve questions quickly. Yet, do not just memorize the answers. Ask yourself how different this exam can be from the others. Come up with exam questions and solve them. Be creative!

- You need to know the logic behind every formula so that you should be able to solve it for different variables.

- Lectures might get confusing sometimes. If you ever feel that the information in the class overwhelms you, study those topics in 24 hours. Ask Chud if you can’t understand it. Reading the book can be sometimes helpful.

- Never copy homeworks! All the people I know who copied the homeworks from other people FAILED the course!!!!!

Do:

-Go to office hours for homework help and attempt the whole homework before you go, so you can get your specific questions answered

-Practice all available previous exams before your exam

-Come to the class before the exam with a few questions you want answered

-Watch mp4s for topics you aren’t confident on

Don’t:

-Wait until the last minute to complete or look at the homework

-Go into an exam unprepared because you will run out of time

-Forget to bring a non-programmable calculator to the exam

-Think you can pass an exam without practicing and understanding the material

Do:

-Go to Office Hours

-Start the Homework Early

-Ask for a regrade if you feel like your were graded incorrectly.

Donts

-wait till the day before the exam to go to office hours. Its always crowded

-copy the homework from others. You dont learn anything.

Do:

go to class

go to office hours

find a good study group

do all practice exams (and time yourself)

ask questions when you don’t understand something

Don’t:

skip class

cram last minute for exams

use notebook paper on homeworks

Attend class. This is seriously the most important thing. This is one of those classes that you simply cannot skip.

Take very good notes. It will help you when studying.

Label everything relevant on your graphs.

Go to office hours if you are confused about anything. It is very helpful.

On homeworks and exams, read all parts of the question carefully before you do anything. After finishing the question, check back over to make sure you included everything it asks for.

Don’t put off studying. The concepts are very involved and take time to understand.

A lot of times, questions on HW and exam don’t need as long and complicated a solution/explanation as you think. By making sure you understand the concepts well, you will be able to answer a lot of questions proficiently with a few sentences.

If a question wants you to include a key economic term, make sure you actually understand those concepts and tie that into your answer, rather than just throwing in key words with no context and thinking it will get you points.

Go to class and take good notes

* Listen to his videos and take notes on them

* The most important thing you can do to succeed in this class is GO TO OFFICE HOURS and pick Chud’s brain on anything you’re unsure on. He is willing to help anybody who has a desire to learn. His material on his exams comes from his brain and his knowledge. You will die if you try to Google questions you have because his concepts are not textbook concepts.

* Do his practice exams over and over as many times as possible because they mirror his actual exams.
