Caregiver Practices to Support Infant-Toddler Social Emotional Development: this handout outlines the caregiver practices that support health social and emotional outcomes for infants and toddlers. Early interventionists might also use this handout as a resource when joint planning with caregivers. Family Routine Guide: assists parents and caregivers in developing a plan to support young children who are using challenging behavior. Early interventionists can use this guide to support families’ understanding of challenging behavior, and by selecting strategies to respond and prevent the behavior, as well as options for new skills to teach for common routines and activities that may occur during the family’s week. Providing Positive Feedback and Encouragement: use this handout with families to share examples of how they can provide positive feedback and encouragement in verbal and non-verbal ways. There is space for caregivers to select favorite strategies to try. Making Life Easier: this series of tip sheets provides parents and caregivers valuable information on how to make daily events easier to navigate for both caregivers and children. The more practice they have, the more likely they will use the strategies when experiencing big emotions. Teaching emotions: activity ideas to share with families: share these activities during visits with families, to teach emotions in a fun way during family activities.
