Review Guidelines:

1. Refer to copies of the texts, study guides, notes, handouts, etc.

2. Know titles, characters, plot, and themes (messages) of literature.

3. Begin preparing for exam early—not the night before.

4. Write down information as you study; doing so helps retention.

5. Prepare flash cards to review key concepts such as literary terms.

6. Consider studying with a partner who is serious about doing well.

Overview of Test Format:

Part A: Answer 100 multiple choice questions (100 points) regarding…

• literary terms

• major works of literature we have studied (including Haroun and the Sea of Stories, The Epic of Gilgamesh, the Cinderella stories from various cultures, Much Ado About Nothing the various short stories we read)

• two short stories you will read during the midterm itself (these works will be similar to the literature we have studied so far this year)

• Vocabulary (Words 1-50)

• grammar and usage

Part B: Write a five-paragraph essay (25 points)
