Part A: Physical, Social, Emotional & Cognitive Characteristics of Your Students

Instructions – Part A of this assignment provides four charts to be filled out as you read the McDevitt/Ormrod chapter 4 and the pdf file of the Snowman/Biehler chapter:

• Use the first chart to note developmental characteristics of the students you teach, entering a description of the grade or age level you teach in the first column.

• The second and third charts should be used as you read to take notes on the type of development your students experience a few years before and after they are in your class.

• The fourth chart is to be used to take note of your students’ needs for physical well-being and the special physical needs they may bring to the classroom.

• Expand the size of the cells in the charts as needed to fit the material you wish to remember as you design learning experiences for your students. You will use these charts in future lessons.

e. Taking all these physical, social, emotional and cognitive factors into account, what could you do to foster a positive and enjoyable learning environment?
