During the 2nd quarter, students will read both a classical novel and a nonfiction piece of work.

• A classical book is one that has survived the ages. Students can read annotated versions of classics but they must be approved by the teacher (no picture books). Some examples of classics are Little Women, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and The Hobbit. See the teacher for list of other classics.

• Nonfiction books consist of factual events about the past or present on a variety of topics. These books are about real life, not imaginary items. Some examples of nonfiction are biographies, autobiographies, historical topics, science topics, sports, etc.
