First article inspection report template excel

The first product inspection (FAI) is an assessment method carried out by the supplier and the buyer of the product to ensure that the final product and the manufacturing process meet the required specifications. The items to be checked and approved by both parties may vary greatly from product to product and manufacturer to manufacturer, but the procedure for reviews the first article remains very similar. Proper documentation of inspections of the first Article in the form of a report is essential to ensure that the products meet the specifications and that, in the event of one of several non-compliances, the buyer and supplier have inspected and signed in order to prevent or reduce disputes. This form template for reviewing the first article can make it easier and more organized for reviews. You can access and complete a form template on a site by using a mobile or tablet computer, or access the final form and export it from your computer. While the template is pre-built with the number of form fields, you can also customize the template to fit your own first article overview, products, and stakeholders. Article 1 Review (FAI) consists of a detailed verification and comparison of the requirement (product design) compared to the results (production result). The supplier must carry out a review of the first Article due to industry requirements such as AS9102 or customer requests before the production process begins. The part must comply with certain dimensions of the specifications. For example, #1 is 5,000 inches in diameter with a plus or minus tolerance of 0.01. The #1 score is 5,005. The result is consistent with the specification. ? What is the first article? ? What is an overview of the first article? ? First article Inspection process flow ? What is the review report of the first article? ? How to create a review report of the first article step by step ? What is a balloon drawing? ? When should the review of article 1 be carried out? The first article is the first product produced using the same manufacturing processes as mass production by any subcontractor of the factory or supplier. In such a way that the customer can confirm how the supplier is capable of producing the parts and the assemblies which meet all the engineering and project requirements in the mass range. When a new or revised part is manufactured on the first production run, it must be ensured that all requirements (such as specific drawings and specifications) have been met by examining a random sample of the first production run. This is called the First Article Review (FAI). In the first inspection article, many organizations review each dimension and specification of this pattern against the drawing, as part of a detailed examination of the production results compared to the design of the product before the manufacturing process begins. Below is an example of the first article review process. Article 1 The check shall be carried out during the first production run. If you find anything, not 100% compliant with the request, you will for remedial action. (Download Free First Article Inspection AS9102B Template & Input Guide) The necessity of the fields to fill in depends on the color entered: ? Yellow - Required fields ? Blue - Conditionally required fields ? No color (white) - Optional fields Form 1: Responsibility of partial numbers ? this form is used to summarize the part of the article that is first reviewed (FAI part) and related sub-assemblies or sub-assemblies or detailed parts. Download Free First Article Inspection AS9102B Template & Input Guide Form 2: Product Responsibility ? Applies to all raw materials, specifications, processes and functional tests defined as design requirements. Form 3: Typical responsibility ? is used to summarise actual specific design characteristics such as dimensions, tolerances, drawings, etc. Balloon drawing (also called Bubble Drawing) ? is an essential part of the Report on review report of the first support article form 3 and for checking each design character requirement. In this drawing, each design feature has its own uniquely numbered balloon. For traceability purposes, this number must correspond to the characteristics numbers on form 3. However, the production of balloon drawings and review reports of the first article is manually time-consuming and labor intensive. Ballooning Drawing Example (To solve this problem, we offer our Auto Ballooning Software QA-CAD to help you create a report reviewing the first article and balloon drawing immediately. Click here to see details.) Once all models and manufacturing processes have been completed, the first production process must be complete with a complete FAI. On the other hand, a partial FAI must be executed in the case of a change in the design or manufacturing process that affects the adjustment, shape or function of the product. A full FAI is required when one of the following events occurs: ? New deployment of work ? New supplier or new production location ? When this part is not manufactured more than 2 years ? When a customer has requested a full FAI required by a new supplier, a new factory and a new part of the introduction of the Delta FAI (Partial FAI) is necessary if one of the following features occur: ? Design change that may affect the fit , form or function ? Change of production process (e.g. tools, materials, processes, inspection method, machine, NC program, product manufacturing process, etc.). ? Change to another media program that may potentially affect the customization, format or function change formatting In this article we will The first article Inspection (FAI) reports and covers the basic design strategy in the stand-alone SOLIDWORKS Inspection programme. But first, what is the FAI all about? The FAI uses an industrial set of standards, usually consisting of three sections called Forms 1, 2 and 3. Forms 1 and 2 have the characteristics of the drawing, such as the title of the drawing, the name of the work, the revision, the unit of measurement and the material, and form 3 has the nominal value and tolerance of each dimension required by the inspection. Step One: Import pdf drawings import PDF into SOLIDWORKS Review is simple. First, create a project by going to a file > a new project. The field has two project templates that follow the AS9102 standards from which you can select, Inches, or Metrics. Choose the one that's right for you, and select OK. These templates can be fully adapted. For more information, see this detailed blog on How to make solidWORKS templates for review. We will then select the PDF drawing. When you select a project template to use SOLIDWORKS Review automatically opens a new window to import a PDF drawing. Scroll to the drawing and select open. Note: If you have a SOLIDWORKS drawing, you can make this process even easier by reviewing within SOLIDWORKS! Step 2: Capture specific project data ? Form 1 & 2 SOLIDWORKS Review drags data from any PDF drawing using a technology called Optical Character Recognition (OCR). OCR scans user-selected areas of the document, capturing and enlilysing machine-readable text into the specified FAI report fields. Forms 1 & 2 are populated with information from a PDF drawing and will be exported to an Excel template when the FAI report is published. In a solidWORKS review, the Form 1 & 2 data fields are called Project Properties. The Project Property fields are filled in by selecting a field, clicking lightning, and selecting the appropriate property. Here, project properties, such as drawing title, revision, and material, are automatically filled using OCR. Step 3: Balloon drawing dimensions ? without manual input Drawing ballooning works the same way as filling project properties. OCR pulls optical data directly from a PDF drawing, converts text to a machine-readable format, and places numbered balloons. This occurs simultaneously and automatically, eliminating the need for manual input when you select the dimensions needed for review. In the event of balloon drawings in the SOLIDWORKS review, the nominal value and tolerance are displayed on the Characteristics tab. This makes it easy to check accuracy and manipulation if necessary. When captured, the face value, tolerance, min/max values, and character ID are recorded in the account for characteristics in table manager. To achieve this operation, on the Document tab, select the Dimension tool and select the dimension required by the scan. Select the field next automatically completes the current operation and switches to the next dimension, which requires scanning, automatically ballooning, and numbering the drawing. This simple transition from one feature to another allows a streamlined population of the bill of characteristics. Step four: Export the FAI report and balloon drawingS Everything covered by the SOLIDWORKS review is appropriately assembled in a standard and edit Excel spreadsheet template, and the drawing is exported as a standard pdf drawing with balloons. To publish an FAI report, go to the Home tab and select Excel from the Publish category. When choosing Excel, you can choose from standard templates, or you can choose the custom template you want to use. To create a ballooning drawing in PDF format, select 2DPDF from the same area. FAI report templates are Excel and can be modified according to requirements. To learn more about customizing these templates, check out this in-depth three-part solidWORKS transparent video series. Here is the free AS9102 Excel template that you want to use for FAI reports. Bonus: If you use CMM, SOLIDWORKS Inspection Professional will automatically fill the results data directly into the FAI! All main coordinate mearing machines (CMM) are supported. CMM works by analyzing the work produced and produces specific measurements into standardized output text. SOLIDWORKS Inspection Professional imports these files and automatically fills in the results data. This eliminates the need to manually enter results in an Excel FAI report. SOLIDWORKS Inspection works both outside SOLIDWORKS for PDF drawings and directly inside SOLIDWORKS for home drawings. If you use CMM, SOLIDWORKS Inspection Professional automates the entire process from ballooning to input results. Regardless of the need for a manufacturing inspection, SOLIDWORKS Inspection will help to automate the process and correct human error.
