Help for Excel Import

This utility is used to feed the shares data in excel file and import the same in excel.

1) First of all either create the excel file by clicking ‘Create File’ button or import already filled excel file(that must be created through ‘COMPUTAX’ software) by clicking ‘Import File’ button.

2) Then next, feeding of data in selected excel sheet could be done by clicking ‘Edit Excel File’ button (This excel file is in the format required for COMPUTAX, thus ordinary excel file cannot be used for importing data into COMPUTAX). This button could also be clicked to edit the data in excel file.

Note: Various validation checks are placed in excel sheet for the convenience of user and for the prevention of data entry error.

3) After feeding the data in excel file close the file and return to the COMPUTAX software. Now click ‘Import Data’ button to import the data from the selected excel file into COMPUTAX software. Data could also be imported at later point, once it is fed in excel worksheet.

NOTE the following:-

a) The records from excel will be imported into COMPUTAX s/w after performing validation checks. If a record in excel is found valid, i.e. correct date of selling the share, share name etc., only then it will be imported in COMPUTAX, otherwise it will not be imported. The errors will be reported for invalid or records with some errors. The records marked with (*) will not be imported.

b) (Caution) Importing data from the same excel sheet for 2nd or more time could be done. The following should be noted:

← Records (each row of data in excel sheet) that have already been imported, shall be imported again after deleting these records from COMPUTAX. Do not delete these records from the excel sheet, if you want these records to be there in COMPUTAX s/w.

← Any changes in the old records that are imported from excel sheet, done through COMPUTAX software need to be done again.

4) If there are problems with the existing excel file, it could be deleted using ‘Delete File’ button. The file name is displayed in the label above. It should be done with care.

5) To see the errors that occurred during import of data from the excel sheet click ‘Show Errors’ button. Records that are marked with (*) in the error list shall not be imported.

6) For distributing or simply saving the excel file at another location, click ‘Copy Excel File’ button.

This excel file could be directly opened and used for feeding the data and later the data could be imported by first selecting the file (using ‘Import File’ button) and then click ‘Import Data’ button.
