This option allows a closer look at the data in a retrieved selection. It can be used for a quick count or more complex mathematical analysis or cross referencing. Do not change any settings and select OKIf there are a number of records to scan then you will see a processing window similar to below, which will disappear once the process has run:When the process is complete the results record will open:[Note – any non-numeric data will be ignored therefore Average value, Standard Deviation, Median, Mode etc., will be blank. An example using numeric data is provided in the Appendices - REF _Ref337815940 \h \* MERGEFORMAT Appendix 1 - Numeric quick analysis screenshot] You can then choose to Export the values or select OK to finish.Exporting the values:Select the Export buttonSelect the location for your report to be stored (1) OR choose clipboard (2).(1)Export - Choosing to store the reportSelect ‘OK’Once the report has stored you will see a note in the message line at the bottom of your SITS screen similar to:For guidance on how to open the report in Excel – see document ‘Opening a bar delimited file in Excel and Text Import Wizard’.(2)Export - Choosing ClipboardSelect ‘OK’Once the report has been sent to the clipboard you will see a note in the message line at the bottom of your SITS screen similar to:You can then open another software application and paste the data. For guidance on how to paste the report to Excel – see REF _Ref337817259 \h \* MERGEFORMAT Appendix 2 - Pasting to Excel.Tip: The example above does not give a complete picture of the situation. Some of the student records retrieved will be for those who did not arrive, have withdrawn, on a break, etc. Two methods of achieving a more complete picture would be to eliminate those status codes when retrieving the SCE records before running the process above (see documents ‘Using wildcards in record retrieval’ and ‘Drop Records’) or by using a Cross Reference Analysis within the Quick Analysis function.Cross Reference AnalysisContinuing from the previous example in ‘Basic Analysis’ – an example could be that you wish to see how many students are on a certain type of course and what their enrolment status is:Using the SCE screenEnter acdemic year 12/13 and retrieve recordsPlace your cursor in the ‘Course’ fieldSelect Misc > Quick AnalysisSelect Cross reference analysisNote that Course Code automatically appears in Field 1In this example you want to cross reference against status code. With your cursor in Field 2, double left click your mouse button or select F2 on your keyboard to choose from a list of fields. Scroll down to find status code and F2 to make the selection. With the two cross reference fields populated, select OK:3270250102171526193751171575Wait for the process to run. The following window will open:As above, the results can be exported.
