Exception: When referring to a series of numbers in the same category, use numerals throughout. Example: Students can earn 8, 10, or 12 extra points (not eight, 10, or 12). Do not begin a sentence with a numeral; spell out the number. Correct: Fifty people gathered at the event. Incorrect: 50 people gathered at the event. Spell out grades and ages. ................
