"The current user account doesn't have permission to convert or enable this database"

This message may appear after installing or running Access 2000/2002. Since Ascend-IP is an Access .MDB file, the file association of .MDB files may now be linked to Access 2000/2002.

When you open Ascend-IP, Access 2000/2002 wants to convert the application from a 97 version to a 2000/2002 version resulting in the error. This problem is simple to fix.

1. First, find where Access 97 is installed on the computer (e.g., to Start-->Find-->Files or Folders).

2. Enter MSACCESS.EXE as the name of the file you are looking for and search the entire C drive.

3. A list of MSACCESS.EXE files will appear in the window.

4. View the properties of each file to determine which one is Access 97 (go to Properties-->Version).

5. The file version for Access 97 will appear as "8.x.x.x" (e.g., "8.0.0.1234").

6. Once you locate your Access 97 file, write down the path/location of the file.

7. Next, go to the properties of the shortcut for Ascend-IP (highlight the AIP shortcut icon and right-mouse click).

8. View the Shortcut tab and go to the Target box.

9. The current target usually points to the Ascend-IP.MDB file as follows: "C:\Program Files\Ascend-IP\Ascend-IP.MDB"

10. You need to add the path of Access 97 to the beginning of the target as in the following examples. NOTE: These are only examples. Your path to Access97 may be different.

Example #1: (if Msaccess.exe is found under "...\Ascend-IP\Office")

"C:\Program Files\Ascend-IP\Office\Msaccess.exe" "C:\Program Files\Ascend-IP\Ascend-IP.MDB".

Example #2: (if Msaccess.exe is found under "...\Microsoft Office\Office")

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Msaccess.exe" "C:\Program Files\Ascend-IP\Ascend-IP.MDB".
