This would be a Gala/Fundraiser with awards to be given to Episcopalians in the Diocese who are accomplished in five areas: Technology; Environmentalism; Peace, Justice, and advocacy; Education; Arts and Literature. One of the reasons for this event would be to raise money for DioCal ministries to be shared by two main areas of focus: Congregational support for growth; and scholarships to our summer camps. Camp and Conference Centers: The Bigger Picture with Bishop Marc: Bishop Marc commented on how fortunate this diocese is to have two camp and conference centers; The Bishops Ranch and St. Dorothy’s Rest (SDR). Only a handful of dioceses have camp and Conference centers. The Bishop’s hopes are to have more collaboration between our two centers so they can continue to be sustainable. The Ranch currently has an active network and development program. There needs to be policy work so the two can coordinate their development programs. First Steps with Julia McCray Goldsmith: Julia spoke about both camps together and the need to do an assessment/evaluation of both camps. She commented that the diocese would only be supporting three camps this year instead of four. Camp St. Francis will be hosted at SDR. Several things are being considered to take advantage of possible efficiencies of Bishops Ranch and St. Dorothy’s Rest working together: grant applications; ACE accreditation; fellowship between the camps; camp volunteer training; working together on common goal’s; common campership fund. There will be more conversation with Sean, Katie and the diocese. Both The Bishop’s Ranch and St. Dorothy’s Rest are Diocesan Resources.VIII.
