-549275-68580000Haywood County Tourism Development Authority Sales Manager Job DescriptionPosition Reports to: Executive DirectorThe Sales Manager position is directly responsible for the sales efforts promoting Haywood County (Maggie Valley, Waynesville, Lake Junaluska, Canton & Clyde, NC) as a premier destination for group business. The goal of this position is to research, prospect and solicit organizations, groups, companies and other potential markets that will result in booked business generating overnight stays and economic impact for the Haywood County tourism industry partners. Essential Job Duties including but not limited to:Develop and manage sales opportunities for the destination. Develop and communicate via online, electronic and printed collateral materials to all viable prospects of clearly defined markets.Develop and conduct site inspections, product training and special industry events that foster participation and engagement from the area’s tourism industry partners. Develop sales leads and ensure timely delivery of leads to area lodging and other tourism related business partners.Establish comprehensive reporting system for TDA Board and other destination stakeholders.Maintain master inventory of all destination resources for groups.Maintain healthy development of advisory committee member participation.Develop and implement an effective annual sales and marketing strategy that maximizes the destination awareness and lodging sales within the county.Utilize key industry trade shows and marketing programs with state and regional partners to advance destination awareness and generate sales leads.Develop and maintain a sales partnership program that drives cooperation and positive tourism community support for all group sales marketing activities.Work with TDA Marketing team and ad agency to develop copy, collateral and video materials to sell the destination.Other duties and projects as assigned by Executive Director.Participate in educational opportunities to stay informed of new trends relative to CVB sales.Produce comprehensive monthly reports.Participate in appropriate professional associations.Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (5 plus years in sales)Three plus years’ experience in hospitality salesMust be able to build relationships, be a team player, organized, strategic and creative. One to two years Internet marketing experience with a solid understanding of the Internet as it relates to marketing, social media, marketing channels of distribution, email marketing programs and website analytical tools. Competency to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines, set priorities and determine objective and strategies to achieve them.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and anticipate issues and proactively resolve them.Proven leadership capabilities.Strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with all organizational levels.Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment with exceptional attention to detail.Positive, professional attitude and ability to excel in fast-paced environment.Must have valid North Carolina driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.Ability to walk, stand, sit and climb stairs.Ability to travel out of town, including limited nights and weekends.
