POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Senior Director, Strategic Alliances

As the global trade association for official destination organizations and convention and visitor bureaus (CVBs), Destinations International protects and advances the success of destination marketing worldwide. Destinations International's membership includes destination professionals representing over 600 official destination organizations with more than 5,400 staff members in over 15 countries that command more than $2 billion in annual budgets. Membership is open to all official destination organizations recognized by their respective governments from the smallest town to the largest country, including convention and visitor bureaus, regional tourism boards, state tourism offices and provincial tourism offices and national tourism boards. Membership also includes destination partners who are companies or organizations that are engaged in providing products and services related to the tourism, hospitality, or destination marketing organization industry generally and/or to destination organizations specifically. This includes institutions of higher learning such as colleges and universities and peer industry associations. ABOUT THE POSITION

The Senior Director of Strategic Alliances is a new position at Destinations International. As our portfolio of corporate partners continues to grow, it is our goal to elevate and enhance the sales and service components of how we deliver to these key stakeholders who generate significant revenue and value for our Association and Foundation. This position is responsible for directly contributing to the annual growth, development and management of partner relationships and the revenue along with the deliverables that they generate. The Senior Director will generate business and increase revenue via prospecting, partnering, relationship building, and closing sales with new and existing customers. The Senior Director will develop new business by analyzing account potential; initiating and developing relationships, building and managing an active customer pipeline, and coordinating and communicating proactively with internal and external groups. This position reports to the Executive Vice President, Global Development & Strategic Alliances, and the ideal candidate is collaborative, confident, and has deep experience in business development. This position is full time and based in Destinations International's Washington, DC office.

JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

? Develop and foster new and existing relationships with key decision makers at businesses within and outside of the travel and tourism industry, proactively managing these relationships throughout the year and matching opportunities for mutually beneficial results.

? Oversee partnership development programs including benefit creation and fulfillment, solicitation, recruitment and retention of businesses on various levels of engagement (annual to multi-year partnerships).

? Maintain a keen understanding of Destinations International's marketable assets in order to leverage as potential new revenue streams. Provide insights from interactions with all partner organizations to suggest future research initiatives and new benefit offerings.

? Work with team in development of annual department budget and tactics to drive strategies and manage attainment of financial goals.

? Work with team to plan, direct and set strategic direction of sales programs to maximize profit for association, including but not limited to event sponsorship, marketing/branding opportunities, trade agreements, etc.

? Generate revenue, manage and track annual budget goals through development of sales pipelines. ? Write proposals and agreements and maintain a system for timely and effective delivery of opportunities. ? Serve as liaison to Partner Advisory Council, a group of key partners who meet quarterly and at Annual Partner

Summit.

? Track specific initiatives outlined in partnership/sponsorship fulfillment agreements and manage activation across organization.

? Work with team to provide high-touch account management services to top partners ? Identify new opportunities for partners within Association and Foundation. ? Develop and make pitches with team or on own. ? As required, travel to member businesses and key events to meet key contacts. ? Participate in regular membership/business development meetings to track progress towards goals and identify

trends on which to capitalize future efforts. ? Work with Marketing Department to create marketing, recruitment and other sales collateral and communication. ? Develop and leverage in-depth understanding of technology and the systems utilized within the organization,

including account management system.

QUALIFICATIONS

? Experience working with high value revenue generating partnerships/client relationships. ? Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, hospitality or related field preferred. ? 10+ years' experience in association, hospitality, membership/partnership, sales or direct destination experience

a plus. ? Ability to collaborate and communicate across all internal departments to successfully deliver partnership

elements. ? Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with AMS/CRM systems. ? Strong analytic, problem solving and critical thinking skills. ? Excellent written, editorial, and verbal communication/presentation skills. ? Ability to manage multiple tasks independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to unforeseen circumstances. ? Attention to detail with a high-level of accuracy. ? An entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative working style. ? Understanding the dynamics of a membership or association-style organization. ? Ability to travel (up to 25%).
