|POSITION SUMMARY: |

|Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer or designee, performs a variety of routine and complex administrative, |

|supervisory and technical work in administering and enforcing building and related codes. The Enforcement Division involves the |

|inspection and enforcement of codes and statutes and surveys of dwellings and small commercial structures to insure compliance with|

|housing codes and ordinances. |

| |

|ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- * Assists in making housing surveys to determine blighted areas, and inspecting dwellings to determine |

|compliance with minimum housing standards. Assists in the development of cost estimates and required improvements. |

|* Compiles reports regarding corrections necessary for compliance with provisions of minimum housing codes. *Assists in the |

|conduct of re-inspections upon completion of required improvements. Performs related work as required. *Enforces a variety of |

|codes, including Uniform Building Codes, Uniform Abatement of Dangerous Building Codes, issues correction notices and citations. |

|*Provides leadership and direction in the development of short and long range plans; gather, interprets, and prepares data for |

|studies, reports and recommendation; coordinates department activities with other department and agencies as needed. *Investigates|

|complaints of violation of Town Codes relating to health, nuisance and noise. *Issues violation notices and stop work orders as |

|required enforcing codes. Ability to work well with co-workers, the public and ability to communicate effectively orally and in |

|writing. Ability to bring Code Enforcement complaints to be heard in front of the Magistrate. |

|REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: *An understanding of practices and methods employed in building construction. An |

|ability to read and understand ordinances, and regulations governing minimum housing standards. |

|*An ability to work under supervision and obtain a working knowledge while producing real work in the field of housing inspection. |

|*An ability to assist in the preparation of comprehensive reports and maintenance of accurate records. Possess characteristics of |

|enthusiasm, loyalty, adaptability, creativity, and imagination. |

|PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS |

|While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, work, talk, or hear, use hands to |

|finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to |

|climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. |

|MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Graduate or equivalent and three (3) years’ experience as a building or code inspector, zoning|

|technician or other related field. Certified as Level I by Florida Association of Code Enforcement or ability to obtain |

|certification within (6) months. Applicant hired must successfully pass up to two (2) unannounced drug tests during each calendar |

|year. Applicants will be required to wear uniforms provided by the Town, at all times while on Town business. Possess a minimum |

|working knowledge of Standard Building Codes. Must have and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. |
