Staff are checking email and voicemail throughout each business day. Office status: with limited exceptions for payroll and disbursements, all office staff have been ruled non-essential by state or county. The office is closed and staff are working from home.LICENSE CENTERMOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATIONSRuled non-essential by State of MN and closed during stay at home order. All Deputy Registrar offices statewide, including LqP Courthouse, are unavailable through at least 4/10/20.Current alternative service options: Auto dealers with MNLARS access will still be able to issue 21-day permits during closure for sales of vehicles with expired registrations. Mail renewals will continue to be processed by MN DVS. Online tab renewal is available for standard passenger class vehicles (cars, pickups under 1 ton, SUVs) at the MN DVS website: state has not provided any extension for expired license tabs.Current plans for re-open: if/when the governor’s stay-at-home order is removed, offices may be allowed to resume limited services. LqP office will offer limited curbside service while county buildings are closed to the public.DRIVER’S LICENSESStatus: Ruled non-essential by State of MN and closed during stay at home order. All DL agents, including LqP Courthouse, are unavailable through at least 4/10/20.Current alternative service options: Implementation of REAL ID deadline has been delayed by one year, to 10/1/21The State of MN has extended the expiration date for any valid driver's license, instruction permit, provisional license, operator's permit, limited license, and farm work license that would expire during the peacetime emergency. The expiration dates for these licenses will be extended for two months after the month the peacetime emergency ends.Future outlook: If/when the governor’s stay-at-home order is removed, offices may be allowed to resume limited services. LqP office will remain unavailable while county buildings are closed to the public. Current alternative service options:Voters in Montevideo ISD interested in voting in the 4/10/20 school building referendum should contact the district office at (320) 269-8833 or visit the school website () to obtain information relating to absentee voting options.Citizens wishing to register to vote can do so via the MN Secretary of State website (). Registration forms can also be mailed to the ATC office or placed in the east entrance courthouse drop box.Future outlook: after Montevideo ISD election on 4/10, there are no elections planned for LqP County until August 2020.PROPERTY TAXES2020 PROPERTY TAX STATEMENTS – statements are being produced and should be mailed to taxpayers by mid-April. Taxpayers wishing to obtain information for 2020 taxes due should email auditor-treasurer@. PROPERTY TAX PAYMENTSStatus: Ruled non-essential by LqP County and staff are providing limited services from home. First half payment for 2020 taxes are due May 15, 2020 for all taxpayers. Current alternative service options: payments can be mailed to the ATC Office or dropped in the payment drop box on the east side of the courthouse.Future outlook: Staff will offer mail-in and drop-off services while buildings are closed to the public.DISBURSEMENTSVENDOR PAYMENTSStatus: Ruled essential by LqP County, but staff are providing limited services from home. Payments for invoices received by 3/26/20 will be mailed out on 4/1/20. Current alternative service options: a special disbursement batch is scheduled for 4/14/20. The next batch of regular disbursements is scheduled for the 4/24/20. Vendors requesting special accommodation should email auditor-treasurer@. Future outlook: regular services will resume when stay-at-home order has been lifted. COORDINATOR/COUNTY BOARDCOUNTY BOARD MEETINGS – the regularly scheduled commissioner meeting on 4/7/20 has been cancelled. At this time, the next regular meeting of the board will be on 4/21/20.
