In fact God’s law, which is the Ten Commandments, is also rooted in love. God gave the Decalogue to his people as a sign of his love for them. He does not want his people to experience being unloved or being slaves again, hence he gave them laws that would guide and motivate them to live a loving and harmonious life. In the New Testament, particularly in Mt 22:34-40, Jesus summarized the Decalogue into the Greatest Commandments of Love.(The teacher will showthe gospel in the power point presentation however the students is still encouraged to locate the said verses in their own Bible)What does the Greatest Commandments of Love say? Jesus stressed the direct relationship between love of God and love of neighbor. He explained that the rest of the laws are based on the two. They are like the hinges on which the entire law hung. LOVE is the basis of everything that we do. Why is LOVE the basis? Let us open our Bibles to the 1st Letter of John 4:7-21.II. EXPOSITION: A.
