God Got This! - Black Preacher Sermon

God Got This!

(2 Kings 6:15-18 KJV)

15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 18 And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the Lord, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

n 2nd King chapter 6—the readers are given a magnified glimpse of the spiritual perception, into a man's life named Elisha. Elisha was a prophet of God who was able to perceive situations in a spiritual sense that was connect to the supernatural. Here is a man that was in constant contact with His Creator, in whom the Creator our God confided with Elisha to cry out against sin, self-centeredness, self-satisfaction, and self-sufficiency. God was using Elisha in a mighty way—he resisted not the Spirit, Quenched not the Spirit, and Grieved not the Spirit of God. Elisha not only understood our physical world, but he also held the Spiritual Lock and Key which unbolted the unseen world.

I'm optimistic to say that we as a people of God, need more saints in the church as that of Elisha. As we will learn from the episode before us, that seeing and perceiving things in a natural sense is good, but many times, we need to see or perceive things by the Spirit. We need to pray that God would allow us to see into the realm of the Spirit—those things which are really taking place in our live to understand why they happen. Instead of trying to figure out the negative from a snapshot, we need to see the full picture, instead of just a portion of it. We need to recognize, and analyze things as Jesus gives them byway of the power of the Holy Spirit.

Whenever you grab the opportunity, please read 2nd Kings 6:8-23, and you'll discover that it’s the era of Elisha, the prophet of the Lord and successor to Elijah. Elisha as he resides in Dothan has the 411 from Heaven's Headquarters—that the mighty, mean, meddling, illicit and ignorant king of Syria is determined to subdue weakling Israel with alleged attacks. And its Elisha who has Syria's attack strategy straight from our Supernatural Source (God)—and so, Elisha informs the king Jehoram of Israel of the location of the Syrian troops and their plans of attack.

The king of Syria has alleged that someone within the camp has been spreading his secrets to the Israelites' concerning his plan of attacks. So, he calls a meeting in his bedroom, as he relaxed to get some answers of who the betrayer might be, but to his understanding no one is guilty of spreading the king's business. But then, a soldiers step forth and give the king the scoop, that its actually Elisha who's the culprit—because it is he who, with prophetic insight, briefs the Israelite king on the upcoming annihilation.
