|FACILITIES MAINTENANCE /UTILITY WORKER |

JOB SUMMARY

Under direct supervision of the Contracts & Facilities Manager, to perform general and specific maintenance, custodial and repair duties throughout Easter Seals facilities; make periodic pick-ups and deliveries; by personally performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may also be assigned:

A. Direct Service:

1. Serve as a role model for consumers.

2. Provide general repairs and maintenance of facility in response to authorized work orders as prioritized by supervisor.

3. Assess and resolve problems related to general maintenance and facility upkeep.

4. Drive to pick-up and deliver items and materials as necessary and related to facility maintenance; i.e., loan closet equipment, pool chemicals and various equipment rentals for facility maintenance.

5. Maintain equipment loan closet as specified in loan closet policy and procedures.

6. Prepare rooms for meetings and events by setting up tables and chairs as needed.

7. Perform pool maintenance duties.

8. Comply with privacy laws and requirements under HIPAA regulations and understand the consequences of non-compliance.

9. Follow all safety procedures as outlined by the Injury, Illness and Prevention Program (IIPP) Safety Manual and Cal-OSHA and understand the consequences of non-compliance.

10. Provide exceptional customer services, both internally and externally.

11. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule. Typical work hours for the full-time position are Monday through Friday; 7.5 hours per day. Typical work hours for the hourly position are Monday through Friday; 5.0 hours per day.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. A. Education and/or Experience:

1. Minimum completion of high school or GED is recommended; with minimum of one (1) year full time equivalent experience performing general maintenance and repairs; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

B. Working Knowledge of:

1. Methods and procedures of pool maintenance.

2. Custodial methods and equipment usage.

3. Landscape equipment and maintenance.

4. Standard safety procedures.

5. General building repairs and maintenance including plumbing and electrical.

C. Language Skills:

1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

2. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

3. Ability to speak effectively in order to present information and respond to questions regarding work related matters.

D. Mathematical Skills:

1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

2. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percents.

E. Reasoning Ability:

1. Ability to solve practical problems and use available resources.

2. Work independently with minimum supervision.

3. Interpret and follow a variety of instructions provided verbally, written, in diagram and/or schedule form.

4. Maintain composure and good judgment under stressful or sensitive conditions.

F. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

1. Position requires a fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice.

2. Possession of a current valid California driver's license and a driving record that meets the standards of the agency.

3. Position requires proof of negative TB test within the past twelve (12) months.

4. Position requires a pre-placement physical and back/lifting assessment.

G. Other Skills and Abilities:

1. Ability to effectively and safely use tools and equipment related to performing the functions of a maintenance worker; i.e. small hand held tools, drills and other electrical equipment, dollies, ladders and other equipment necessary to accomplish the assigned tasks.

A. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

1. Walk, stand and use hands and fingers to feel objects, tools, or controls.

2. Reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance oneself.

3. Talk and hear.

4. The employee is required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

5. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 50 pounds, with additional physical or mechanical assistance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

A designated workstation area is provided for accomplishing paper work and storage of tools and other supplies necessary to the position. Work environments vary with regard to task assignment. This position requires frequent work to be done outdoors in various climate conditions.
