Caron Treatments CentersJob DescriptionPosition: Benefit SpecialistFacility Program: Caron Treatment CentersReports To: Corporate Director of HR Degree of Supervision: Monthly Staff Meeting, Weekly Individual MeetingPurpose: Assist in the development, administration, and evaluation of employee benefit programs for the entire organization. Main Duties & Responsibilities: Assist in strategic development of benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, supplemental benefits, worker’s compensation and wellness for the entire organization. Maintain relationships with benefit brokers and insurance vendors.Administer employee benefit programs including enrollment, billing, claim resolution, education, and electronic processes. Prepare and distribute written and verbal communications to educate and inform employees of benefit programs. Maintain documents related to benefit programs.Assist with administration of retirement plans including pre-tax and taxed 401(k) plans and 457(b) plan, including maintenance of documents related to retirement plans. Assist with audits for all organizations.Assist with coordination and administration of the leave of absence process for employees including: FMLA, disability and worker’s compensation.? Collaborate with HR Business Partner to interpret policies and instructing employees and managers on proper process/procedure and assist in consultation with legal counsel as appropriate.? Assist with communicating pay instructions to payroll administrator(s), maintaining records and preparing reports/metrics related to leave of absences across the Caron continuum.? Handles benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable resolutions with insurance providers and beneficiaries to provide proper and complete utilization of benefits.Verify calculations of premium statements and enrollments. Maintain statistical data relative to premium costs and claims.Assist with delivering effective new employee orientation including handbook review and campus tours.Assist with accreditation and licensure audits. Serve as the main Human Resource contact during audits.Assist Corporate Director of HR in providing statistics for renewal, budgets and utilization. Reviews and ensures benefit programs meet state and federal laws pertaining to benefits.Process educational assistance applications for payment.Assist with managing the HRIS database.This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.Physical Requirements:Must be able to lift up to 15 poundsMust be able to sit and perform computer work for the majority of the dayMust be able to work extended hours, present to audiences in large and small group settings, which may require long periods of time and be of multiple presentations, Must be able to travel by air and other forms of travel.Minimum Education / Experience Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree preferred, Associate’s degree required or equivalent experience.Minimum of 3-5 years of intensive benefit experience, preferably benefit specialist or human resource generalist experience. In-depth knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act, other applicable laws, and leave policies.? PHR certification preferred.Experience in healthcare field preferred.If in recovery, 1 year of continuous sobriety preferred.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:Ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.Able to handle multiple tasks at one time.Ability to apply and adapt practices and techniques to meet the needs of the organization’s culture.Strong organizational skills.Excellent oral, written and customer service skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office municate with all levels of the organization; i.e. employees and petencies:Ensure employee benefit questions/concerns are addressed and handled properly.Direct Observation Other – feedbackEnsure accurate data in HRIS and produce timely reports.Monthly reports.Review of system.Effectively resolve employee benefit issues striving for mutually beneficial or appropriate solutions by administering established policies, procedures and legal guidelines consistently throughout organization.Direct observationMaintain positive, professional attitude when conducting business for Caron.Direct observation._____________________________________ _________________Employee Signature Date_____________________________________ _________________Supervisor Signature Date ................
