Job Title: Facilities Technician - EMSC

Job Summary:

Under general supervision provides a quality interior and exterior building environment.

Essential Functions:

Collect information to identify and diagnose building needs. Scan schedules, memos and blueprints for information needed to accomplish work tasks.

Perform duties required to keep equipment, systems, building and grounds ready for use.

Perform preventive maintenance duties to provide satisfactory operation of heating, ventilating, air-conditioning equipment, plumbing, lighting systems and door locks, hinges and hardware.

Operate and maintain building equipment and machinery, repair of washroom flushometers and faucets, changing of air filters, painting, landscaping, interior and exterior light bulb replacements, minor lock replacement, moving furniture and minor electrical repairs.

Remove snow, ice and trash; maintain well-groomed lawn and landscaping.

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the District’s recycling program, items to include, paper, metal, fluorescent bulbs, spent copier cartridges, etc.

Maintain copy room supplies and copiers.

Responsible for the arrangement of conference room accommodations by ensuring that food items, supplies and materials are available and equipment is in working order.

Provide good customer relations and maintain comfortable working environment for all who use the facility.

Handle packages and equipment. Move and transfer supplies, boxes, office equipment, furniture, plans, specifications and recyclables. Pick up and empty trash dispensers.

Inform supervisor about activities and issues that arise.

Keep records such as supply check list, uniform issuance and equipment maintenance.

Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and ensure work and job site does not endanger others.

Assist with pick-ups and deliveries, and processing incoming/outgoing mail and packages.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Functions:

None.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education: High school or technical school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Three (3) years experience in repair and maintenance of buildings.

Specific Skills: Skilled in the safe use of hand and power tools and equipment. Experience in reading and understanding technical drawings, specifications, layouts, blueprints and schematics. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagrammatic format. Proficient in use of MS Office Suite.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc:

Valid State of Ohio Driver’s license and driving record in accordance with the District’s insurance carrier.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Working Conditions:

Time divided between general office environment and working outdoors. At times the use of eye and ear protection and working in a dirty environment may be necessary.

Physical Demands:

A majority of time spent standing, walking and climbing, with occasional stooping, kneeling and sitting.

Interfaces:

Internal: Interfaces with District personnel throughout the organization.

External: Interfaces with general public, agencies, and other companies.
