2019-2020 APPEAL FOR FINANCIAL AID REINSTATEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
The U.S. Department of Education requires, as a condition of receiving federal financial aid, that a student be making satisfactory academic progress toward completing their educational goal.
Students who have not met Satisfactory Academic Progress (S.A.P.) standards and/or have been disqualified and have extenuating circumstances may appeal their status by following the instructions listed below:
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Attend a Financial Aid Appeal Workshop.
2. You must have submitted a 2019-20 FAFSA or Dream Act application.
3. Download the SAP Appeal Statement Form. Once the form is downloaded, answer all questions by typing the PDF fillable document. After typing your statements, printing and signing the document, you will need to upload the form.
4. Upload Third PartyDocumentation in support of your extenuating circumstances.
5. Upload a signed Comprehensive Student Educational Plan (CSEP) completed by an Academic Counselor/Educational Advisor.
6. Upload a NSLDS print-out of your financial aid history. Go to: nslds. to print this requirement.
7. Complete and upload the test results for the following Financial Aid TV (FATV) Appeal Counseling sessions: ? Understanding the Pell Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU) and its Effects ? The Essentials to Understanding Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and what it means to you
8. Upload the SAP Appeal by typing your Name in the box indicated on the PDF fillable Signed Statement Request form and electronically submitting it by pressing the Continue button.
9. Review & E-Sign the Appeal Certification form.
10. You must be enrolled in courses required for your program for the term of the appeal.
11. You must electronically submit a completed Appeal for Financial Aid Reinstatement with all the required supporting documentation by the established deadline.
Incomplete Appeals, and Appeals submitted after the deadline date will be denied. No exceptions!
Submission periods for the Appeal for Financial Aid Reinstatement are as follows:
Fall Semester Spring Semester Summer Semester
July 15, 2019 ? Sep. 30, 2019 Nov. 25, 2019 ? Mar. 02, 2020 April 27, 2020? June 29, 2020
The Appeal Committee has until the end of the semester (for which you are appealing) to provide a response to your Appeal for Financial Aid Reinstatement. You will be notified of the Appeal Committee decision by email.
INCOMPLETE APPEALS OR FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE FINANCIAL AID APPEAL PROCEDURES LISTED ABOVE WILL RESULT IN A DENIED APPEAL. ONCE DENIED, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SUBMIT ANOTHER APPEAL UNTIL THE NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR. ALL DECISIONS MADE BY THE FINANCIAL AID APPEAL COMMITTEE ARE FINAL. NO EXCEPTIONS!
