The below listed are just a few resources that the financial aid office at LWTC has been given information about…there are so many more sources out there to find, and you can research them on the Internet or in the library!

AMERICAN WELDING SOCIETY (STUDENT LOAN PROGRAM)

Deadline: None

Criteria:

➢ Must be enrolled full or part time seeking to further welding studies

➢ Must be 18 years of age or a guarantor will be required for the credit application

➢ Must have a minimum 2.00 overall GPA

➢ Must be enrolled in recognized welding program

➢ Must be a member in good standing with the American Welding Society. (See application for more information)

AMERICORPS SERVICE EDUCATION AWARD

Americorps members

➢ Help solve community problems in the areas of education, public safety, the environment, and other human needs

➢ Commit to a year of full-time service (some programs have part-time opportunities as well)

➢ Work in cooperation with others, including other Americorps members, community volunteers, local officials, residents, etc.

➢ Receive training necessary to complete their service and gain valuable skills for their future

➢ Earn a living allowance, health care and an education award, as well as other benefits

ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF SEATTLE

Criteria:

➢ Resident of King County

➢ Minimum of 10 credit hours per quarter and a 3.0 GPA

ASSOSIATION FOR WOMEN IN COMPUTING, PUGET SOUND CHAPTER

Deadline: May 31, 2003

Criteria:

➢ Currently a full-time student and re-enrolling for the summer or fall 2003

➢ Enrolled in a data processing or computer related program

➢ Presently completing or already have completed 15 credits in the program

➢ Current grade point average of 3 or more

➢ Documented financial need

CHEVRON STATIONS TUITION REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM

Chevron is offering 75% tuition reimbursement for all employees who work at least 20 hours per week. This program is offered from the first day of employment. See financial aid for a flyer of more information or call Lisa Wellman at (425) 497-5013 to schedule an interview.

COCA-COLA TWO-YEAR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

Deadline: May 31, 2003

Criteria:

➢ U.S. Citizens or permanent residents.

➢ Minimum of 2.5 GPA.

➢ Must have completed 100 hours of community service within the previous 12 months.

➢ Must plan to enroll in at least 2 courses during the next term at a two-year institution, and plan to use the funds for education expenses.

➢ May not be children of Coca-Cola employee

EMERALD CITY BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN’S FOUNDATION

Criteria:

➢ Be living in King County Kitsap County, Pierce County or Snohomish County

➢ Have demonstrated a high scholastic ability

Criteria:

➢ Applicants must be dependent children or spouses of persons who were killed or are permanently disabled as a direct result of the terrorist attacks in the U.S. on September 11th 2001

➢ Enrolled at an accredited two year or four year college, university, or vocational-technical college in the U.S.

➢ U.S. Citizen

THE JEANNETTE RANKIN FOUNDATION (JRF)

Deadline: None

Criteria:

➢ Applicant must be a woman, at least 35 years of age as of April 1, 2003.

➢ Must be a U.S. citizen.

➢ Must be pursuing a technical/vocational degree, an associate degree, or a first bachelor’s degree.

➢ Must be enrolled or accepted in an accredited school for fall 2003.

➢ Income must be within the following guidelines:

Criteria:

➢ Women 25 years and older.

➢ Women in transition, women changing job fields, and displaced homemakers.

Criteria:

➢ Danish descent or married to someone of Danish descent; resident of Oregon or Washington; seeking academic degrees, vocational degrees, or re-training for employment possibilities

NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID

There is a booklet with all sorts of nursing scholarships that can be viewed in the financial aid office only. Ask the representative at the counter to see the booklet, or you can request your own free copy.

OVERLAKE SERVICE LEAGUE ADULT EDUCATION AWARD

Deadline: None

Criteria:

➢ Reside in the Bellevue School District

➢ Enrolled at LWTC or any public college or university in the State of Washington

➢ United States citizen, a refugee, or registered alien awaiting eligibility for US citizenship

➢ GPA acceptable to the college in which student is enrolled

REDMOND CHILDCARE SCHOLARSHIP FUND 2002

Criteria:

➢ Redmond Resident (zip code 98052 and 98053) Children enrolled in child care are between the ages of 1 month and 12 years

➢ Employed or in job training

➢ Not eligible for or receiving any other subsidy (such as DSHS or King County child care Program

➢ Within certain income guidelines

Criteria:

➢ Resident in Redmond enrolled in a vocational/technical program or taking academic classes (English, Math, etc.)

➢ Unmet need remaining (if applicable)

➢ Low income (based on HUD guidelines)

➢ Maximum is $300, once per calendar year

SALLIE MAE FUND UNMET NEED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Deadline: May 31, 2003

Criteria:

➢ Demonstrate financial need of more then $1,000 without loans

➢ Have a combined family income of $30,000 or less

➢ Have a cumulative grade point average between 2.5 and 3.0 or equivalent

U.S. AIRFORCE R.O.T.C./IN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Deadline: None

Criteria:

➢ Applicant must be a U.S. citizen enrolled full-time in one of 900 schools that offer AFROTC

➢ Have a 2.5 GPA

➢ Pass a Physical Fitness Test

➢ Pass a DoD Medical Exam

➢ Pass an AF Officer Qualifying Test

➢ Be of good moral character

➢ Be under age 31 on Dec. 31 of year of commissioning (35 for non-scholarship students)

WA CPA/PENINSULA CHAPTER JAMES SHANK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 2003-2004

Deadline: May 31, 2003

Criteria:

➢ Applicant must be at least in junior status in college and accepted into the accounting department. Attach a letter of acceptance.

➢ GPA must be at least 2.75.

➢ Must be high school graduate of an Olympic Peninsula area or current resident of the Peninsula Chapter Area. This area includes the following counties: Kitsap, Clallam, Jefferson and Belfair area of Mason County.

WA DENTAL SERVICE FOUNDATION

Criteria:

➢ Be a Washington state resident.

➢ Be part of an underrepresented minority group: African- or Black-American, Alaskan Native, Native American, Hispanic/Latino and/or Pacific Islander ancestry.

➢ Submit a 2003-2004 FAFSA and be determined as demonstrating “financial need”.
