NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

The next few days will be your introduction to student life at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. You'll learn about the resources available to you, begin to navigate campus, and meet the faculty and staff here who will teach and support you. We hope you'll make a few friends and have some fun along the way.

Our team of orientation leaders is here to guide you as you make UAF your home. These experienced students know the ins and outs of UAF and are ready to answer your questions.

Airport Shuttle

Fairbanks International Airport

Need a ride? We'll offer continuous shuttle service from the Fairbanks International Airport to the Moore-Bartlett-Skarland Complex.

8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Rev-It-Up and Check-in

Moore-Bartlett-Skarland Complex

Your one-stop shop to check in for New Student Orientation, move into the residence halls, set up email, check on financial aid, buy a parking decal, get a PolarExpress card and more -- all in one convenient location.

8 a.m.-3 p.m.

ALEKS Math Placement

Moore-Bartlett-Skarland Complex computer lab

Nearly every program requires a math course. Your scores help to place you in math and other core classes that have a math prerequisite. We have a computer lab available to take the assessment. You should plan for 90 minutes to complete it.

8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Information Station

Drop by any time you have a question. If you arrive after 3 p.m., you'll check in for New Student Orientation here.

9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Campus Tours

Moore-Bartlett-Skarland Complex

Tours will depart every hour, on the hour, from the Moore-BartlettSkarland Complex. The final tour will depart at 4 p.m.

Find out about student employment opportunities, including on-campus jobs and internships.

Scholarship Session

Wood Center ballroom

Learn about how to apply for scholarships at UAF and how to look for more ways to finance your education.

1:45-2:30 p.m.

Making Sense of Money

Wood Center C, D, E, F

We'll help you understand options and strategies to manage your money.

5-7 p.m.

Welcome Barbecue

Wood Center

Mix and mingle with faculty, staff and other students. Bring your family if they're registered for Parent and Family Orientation.

6-7 p.m.

Honors Program Reception

Honors House

Join staff and faculty from the Honors Program at the Honors House, located at 1818 Copper Lane. Required for all honors students; parents and family members of honors students are encouraged to attend.

7-9 p.m.

Kickoff and Pep Rally

Patty Center, Alaska Airlines Court

Show your spirit in this blue and gold-filled event that will keep you on your feet and cheering. You'll also meet your orientation leader and get to know the rest of the incoming class.

9 p.m.-midnight Rooftop Kick Back

Wood Center

Kick back and relax after your first day of orientation! Enjoy live music, DJs, fire pits and more while you connect with your new #NanookNation community. Sponsored by the Center for Student Engagement.

First-Generation Wood Center ballroom Breakfast

Are you the first person in your family to go to college? Connect with other first-generation college students and their families, and learn about dedicated support services for you. Co-sponsored by Student Support Services and the Nanook Diversity and Action Center.

Student Success Resource Fair

Learn about the offices and programs at UAF that will help you achieve your academic and personal goals.

Academic Induction

Davis Concert Hall

Academic Induction signifies your formal entry into the community of learners at UAF and welcomes you to #NanookNation.

Noon-3 p.m.

ACT Residual

Bunnell Building 131

The ACT residual test is available for bachelor's degree students who have not yet submitted ACT or SAT scores. Please register in advance with Testing Services. Bring $60 in exact change, photo identification and an approved calculator.
