Mission Statement

Our mission is to enrich the lives of the residents of Hillsborough by providing safe, welcoming parks and recreation facilities and affordable, diverse recreation and social activities for people of all ages and abilities to play, learn, contemplate, build community, and be good stewards of our environment.

Meetings

Regular monthly meetings of the Recreation and Parks Commission are held on the first Wednesday of each month in the Municipal Building at 7:00pm. The meetings are open and the public is welcome.

Parks and Recreation Information

General Information

General Policies

Supervision Parents or guardians of minors are responsible for dropping off and picking up their children promptly at the facility.

Eligibility All township residents are eligible to participate in all programs, assuming the participant meets the age or grade criteria outlined. Where available, non-residents may participate in certain programs for an additional fee.

Financial Assistance The Department of Parks and Recreation offers reduced fee registration for children who are eligible under the guidelines of the Federal Subsidized Lunch Program. Please call our office for information prior to registration.

Communication Closing notifications and cancellations due to inclement weather will be posted on our website and Facebook.

Inclusive Recreation Information

The Hillsborough Department of Parks and Recreation is committed to an inclusive approach to recreation. Inclusion is individuals with and without disabilities participating in recreation activities together.

In order for individuals with disabilities to participate as fully as possible, reasonable modifications are provided. These are individualized techniques and resources used to enhance program participation without fundamentally altering the program. Inclusion makes it possible for individuals to choose from the vast array of programs offered by the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Refund Policy

The Department of Parks and Recreation reserves the right to cancel, alter, supplement, limit registration or change any dates, times, locations, ages, fees or any other information listed. There will be NO REFUNDS of any registration fees unless the program is canceled by the department.

There are two easy ways to register for programs:

Visit the Parks and Recreation office at The Peter J. Biondi Municipal Building.

Online at the Parks and Recreation website.

Therapeutic Recreation Partnership

We have a cooperative agreement with the Somerset County Park Commission's Therapeutic Recreation Department (TR) to provide leisure and recreation opportunities for children and adults who have a developmental disability. We and TR recognizes the need for all individuals to participate actively in recreational and leisure activities to promote health, fitness, and well-being. More information on Therapeutic Recreation is available by calling the TR Department of SCPC at (908) 526-5650.

Basketball Skills and Drills Tennis Development

Biddy Basketball

Note: This calendar is for informational purposes only. Please check the program listing for specific dates and times of each program.

Biddy Basketball (Co-Ed)

Introduce your child to fun and exciting sport of basketball! Using proportionally sized basketballs, this program encourages players to develop motor skills and basic technique in passing, dribbling and shooting. Players will be taught through a series of fun challenges, structured activities and scrimmages.

Basketball Skills and Drills

(Co-Ed)

Keep your skills sharp after basketball season. This program stresses basic basketball skills and techniques. Children will develop and improve their dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive skills.

Super Soccer Stars

Super Soccer Stars is fun themed-based soccer program that teaches your child the basic fundamentals of soccer while taking them on a fun imaginary adventure! Each structured one hour class is designed to teach your child soccer skills while using their feet and imaginations in fun creative ways.

Days: Saturdays

Time: 1:30-2:30pm

Dates: 9/14, 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19

Location: Flagtown Annex

Skateboarding

Come skate with Prime's Skate Team to learn some of skate boarding's entry level skills while working your way up to some more advanced skills and tricks. Also, prepare to learn different aspects of the board such as decks, wheels, and bearings such as board maintenance. Helmets and skateboards are required while other pads are recommended.
