Job Description

Caregiver Support Program Services Coordinator

The Center for Volunteer Caregiving recruits and trains volunteers to provide unskilled support services to older adults and adults with disabilities in Wake County. Some of the services our volunteers provide are transportation, respite care, friendly visits, grocery shopping, light housekeeping, yardwork, and telephone assurance.

The Caregiver Support Program Services Coordinator plans, coordinates, and administers all activities of the Caregiver Support program within the structure established by the Executive Director. The position reports to the Executive Director. This is a non-exempt, 40-hour per week position with occasional evening and weekend duties required. Salary range $31,000 - $40,000, depending on relevant experience.

This program is supported primarily through the National Family Caregiver Support program and requires regular reporting through ARMS – the state database for aging -- and quarterly meetings with other caregiver specialists in Region J.

Responsibilities:

• Plans, coordinates and administers services for the Caregiver Support Program to assist clients in their role as caregivers.

• Sets annual strategic plan goals and strategies for the Caregiver Support Program.

• Reviews, evaluates and stays current on best practices for older adults and adults with disabilities with memory impairment and family caregivers.

• Evaluates program results and prepares related reports for program management.

• Manages and coordinates referrals including management of waitlist, conducting initial phone screenings, and coordinating the match of volunteers to care receivers for all services in the program.

• Schedules and performs in-home assessments with care receivers with memory impairment and family caregivers.

• Shares responsibilities with other staff to coordinate, train and provide on-going support of volunteers and coordinators.

• Maintains database and back up written documentation for volunteers, caregivers, and care receivers.

Plans, coordinates, and co-leads Powerful Tools for Caregivers classes (must attend Powerful Tools for Caregivers training if not already certified as a class leader).

Serves as primary agency liaison to the community for caregiver services and resources.

Provides supervision and support to respite volunteers.

Serves as resource for the community and provides information and referral for issues related to older adults and adults with disabilities.

7. Actively participates with board, staff and volunteers in the shared responsibility to communicate, market and fundraise for the agency.

Promotes community awareness of respite services and disseminates information related to caring for persons with memory-impairment.

Serves as resource and consults with other agencies upon request for information about respite services program for persons with memory impairment and family caregivers.

Performs related duties as requested or required.

Qualifications: College degree in Health, Human Services, or related field. MSW degree strongly preferred. Knowledge of/experience with memory-impaired and implications for primary caregivers is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office Suite and database management. Must have experience with older adults and knowledge of community resources. Previous experience in volunteer administration a plus.
